Just started with digital photo and found this forum. Have been looking on for a bit now and thought that I might as well introduce myself. I am still looking for my self in this new hobby so right now I am shooting just about anything to learn my camera and get my feet on the ground so to say. My wife and I just returned from a trip and the camera went with me and I really found out how much I need to learn to make photos pop and represent what I saw. So I look forward to talking to all and picking up what knowledge I can in my venture.

Hey Skipper....welcome to the hog. Great first posts. Now, down to the nitty-gritty...
Pic 1. nicely done. You can give it a little more contrast. and try to make sure the horizon line is level. But good shot otherwise.
Pic 2. I cant say anything but really good shot. The iguana is nice and sharp, he is just slightly off center...good. Good shot.
Pic 3. In this case, lowering the horizon line, giving the shot more sky and thus including the entire mast, (rule of thirds,) would have made the pic better. Also the horizon line (water) needs to be again level. Good shot though.

Thanks for the welcome. Funny thing on the shot of the sail boat I was on another boat and had a terrible time holding the camera straight. But had fun getting the shot. Will work on the rest. Again thanks.

Skipper, I Welcome you aboard!

Regarding the photo of the sail boat, I would like you to think about level horizons, and in this case the composition would have been better if the horizon was lowered so to include the boats mast, and not have the horizon centered in the photo. I hope this helps with your venture.

Welcome. I agree with Rich, but would add to your first shot that I would have liked to have seen some leading lines in your picture to draw your eye towards the land in the background. Otherwise they are good pictures.

Just a little pointer on composition.
Unless you have a specific reason not to, always ensure that your horizons are perfectly level.
Then there's composition.
It's a common temptation for shooters to place the subject bang in the middle of the frame. BORING !!!!
Have you heard of the so-called "rule of thirds"? Well, its more of a guide really, but I went back, found the lizard and the boat and re-shot the photos to show you what is meant.
Compose so that the subject is "looking" into the frame and get close by all means but give it sufficient "room". Try not to cut off the top of the subject's head, for instance, unless of course you have a specific reason, and in the case of your photo, the top of the mast.
Hope to see more of your work soon.

Looks like you have the solution in PP for these! Looks good. Thanks. I am just starting with PS3 and LR4. Your point is well taken. :P
