Taking Classes
I've taken a few classes and would like some constructive
comments on these photo's. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know I have a long way to go but,
I hope I am going in the right direction. I enjoy kids and babies (got a new great-granbaby coming in May, Mariah
Grace. Thanks for help in advance.
Also, trying to learn Lightroom 4.
This little angel Is Emilia a friend's grandbaby.
She just turned two.
Wow, those are great! She is a beautiful little girl. I love the 3rd photo.
Like the pictures. The only thing I would say is not to cut off the top of the hair. Personal opinion that.
Im not sure if you are using flash but the lighting seems a bit harsh, also have a good look at your background before you hit the button. With kids try to get them pre occupied and you will get a much better shot.

Thank you, Jan. Got along way to go.

Thanks GWR100, these were shot as she was getting ready
to walk out the door, the lighting is from window on left.
I kinda like the up close, tight shot shows off those beautiful eyes.
Thanks, Malcolm B.all the comments on UHH are so helpful for us newbies. I appreciate them all very much.
That said , if that was natural light you did well.

one of the things i like doing for kids shots is to get down on the floor and just sit and watch them, they will present you with so many shots after awhile, soft box difusser on your flash unit will help cut down on any harshness and it doesn't distract them as much either
Really cute girl!
I know it's a Canon Rebel T21 with flash.
The window light had zero to very little effect on the photos.
Helped you focus though.
Were you using the pop-up flash or a shoe-mounted one?
If pop-up was used, I'm surprised you didn't get red-eye.
As DugE said, a diffuser would soften the light a bit.
If it's a shoe-mounted speedlight, you can usually rotate & tilt the head to bounce the light off the ceiling, wall or both and give it the look of available light.
Thanks for all your comments. No flash on any of these just light from window, I think. I was in such a hurry I really can't remember if flash came up on some or not.
Seems like evertime I see her I'm always rushing.

Not to argue.....it did because of the harsh shadow under her chin is "clean lined" like a light hitting her,and the glare on the chair behind her, again surprise no red eye.
these are great shots and she is really beautiful, just trying to give some extra help

I know what direct flash looks like...this.
Trust me, the flash fired.
(metadata shows it too but I don't need to look at that)
In the menu of your camera, you can set not to fire.
You have a great subject to practice on.

Hi Buffyjean and Welcome. What a little sweetheart you have for your model. She is adorable and can't wait to see more of her :)
