There is also a free software program called Wire Pilot which makes removal of power lines and other artifacts from pictures a simple procedure. Google Wire Pilot, as I don't remember the company's name.

I used this program with great success a few years back when photographing homes for a realtor.

hi
try the cloning tool, small movements and move your capacity down a little then gently blur the area should work ok but if you feather the area you may see a join :)

The Content Aware feature in PS CS5 is awesome. I'm using it on a regular basis now to remove wires and such.

Here's my tutorial: http://activerain.com/blogsview/2585671/easily-removing-utility-wires-in-your-photos

Nice tutorial Russel

I've said this somewhere before, but you might take a look at the Sagelight program, version 4.2. It has a trial offer, and even if you buy it the cost is currently about $40 for a lifetime license. One of their plug ins - automatically included - is the Wire Worm. I have used it for many things in addition to wire removal. Simple and effective. Give it a try.

Agree. This tool works much better than cloning for many applications.

the healing brush works fine for that in PS elements.

You'd be surprised what it will do.

Also, snipping out a section right next to your offending powerline and dragging it over the powerline and then feathering the edges with the eraser tool also works...you just gotta play around to see what comes out best in your circumstances.

With Photoshop Elements is there a way other than the cloning tool to remove power lines? Thanks.

Hi... I Have a program called Inpaint Ver 3, it works better than most I have tried. Check it out here. Run some of the demos they have. Nothing works 100%, but this one I use all the time.

Thank you. Will definitely check out.

This is correct. You may try using the Spot Healing tool. Besure that Content-Aware is checked in the tool option bar.(version 9 & 10) . Review Lesson 9 in Adobe PSE 10 "Classroom IN A Book"

Using wire cutters before you take the photo can save you the headache of finding the right tool within PhotoShop.

-did the wire snipper trick for family thanksgiving pic but P.O.'ed family when the internet connection died due to snipped line. My suggestion would be to move the family across the street, THEN snip wires, take pic using flash for fill in lighting. if not feasable try using the erase in iphoto.- TG

I've mentioned this before but ... the only place I know for sure has Wire Worm available - as a free plug-in coming with the basic program - is on SageLight. It's considered similar to Lightroom, although probably not as extensive. A free trial is available, or has been. Give it a try.
