Do we have time?

I'm shooting a wedding Dec. 18th. The ceremony is starting at 4:00pm and the sun sets at 5:30. The couple want formals done in several locations at the venue. All are walking distance but one is a little bit of a hike (I'm going to the location on Dec 6th just to scope things out) The question: Is an hour (or maybe 45 min.) enough time to shoot the couple AND the wedding party, in several different locations? The couple has offered to meet me before the wedding (On the wedding day) fully dressed and ready for the shots. I HATE to do that because well, you know...the groom shouldn't see the bride in her dress before the wedding. ALSO, the sun won't be as pretty at around 3pm. What would you guys do?
I have a second photographer but that won't help in this situation.

No...We took 3 hours. However our pics included family. My husband and I had our pictures done actually a few weeks before the wedding.
Maybe if you set out a game plan you can pull it off but I would try to get another half hour at least.
Good Luck

My daughter had all her formal pictures taken before the ceremony. I thought I was going to hate it, but it was actually very nice. They shot all the grooms family and brides family first, then he made us all clear out of the sanctuary and shot the groom seeing my daughter for the first time in her wedding gown. It was so nice and relaxed nobody was in a big rush to get to the reception and we got some fantastic pictures.
If she doesn't have a problem with it I would do it that way.

Thanks, I'm thinking that's the way I'll have to go. I hate going against tradition but it's their wedding and they don't mind so...

Get the extra time. My daughter's wedding had one of the most spectacular pictures of her walking up behind him ( we see the look for happiness and excitement on her face) to turn him around and the look on their faces was priceless. She was beaming more then than later. The first look alone is a great shot.

Not a bad idea but I won't have 2 days to do it. I have to get it done on the day. I suppose though I could suggest going back the following week or so. Don't know if he's renting a tux or has a suit.
