Olympus OM DE M 5

Greetings all, I am new to this forum, and I have been using a Nikon D-90 for a couple of years, and now, since I travel a lot, decided to go with a low profile camera the Olympus EM 5 considering the places I go!
Can someone please advise me on how to set the shutter speed on the EM 5, it take about 2 seconds from the time I press the shutter button to the time the picture is actually taken. My ISO varies between 200 and 400, at F stop around 5.6. I have tried many different things with no results. The shutter speed being so slow makes the pictures blurry.
Looking forward for your expert advises

thanks...can you help with my issue? Spontaneous pictures are kind of difficult considering my shutter speed issue!

If your shutter speed is actually that slow, you will need to either 'open up' the aperture, or increase the ISO setting.

I have tried that and the results are similar. I was thinking that it was probably in my original set up or else there may be a problem with this phone, just got it last week and I have not been able to get a decent shot yet!

I have no problem with that camera. I use aperture priority or manual. Olympus tech support is wonderful and easy to reach. I took the cd manual to staples and had them print the manual-2 pages per side using back and front then had them bind it.

Welcome to UHH. I'm an Oly user, but currently not using the m4/3 so I can't help with your issue. However, I'd suggest you try this forum as there are lots of folks there with your same equipment and well versed in it. http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/forum.php

Is your shutter speed that slow . . . and your photos thus grotesquely overexposed? Or is it possible that you have the shutter delayed (normally used to dampen vibrations for long-exposure pictures)?

I don't have an EM-5, but I have an e-30 and an e-420. I suspect that their features are similar to yous.

Thank you so much for your replies...much appreciated! figured it out and now the shutter speed is working fine. On my Nikon D 90, I usually regulate the shutter speed when I change the ISO, but on this new 4/3 camera, it is individually controlled and I could not figure out what was going on. It is actually not a bad camera at all, the pictures are pretty crisp. As I get more familiar with it, I will keep you updated, so far, as a walk around camera, it seems ok!

I have the Nikon D 70 D80 and D300 and I got the OM-D EM-5 in August. They each have shutter priority, aperture priority and manual controls. Aperture and iso control shutter speed. there is a lot to learn about the Olympus read the manual on the cd. Dpreview has a set-up guide.

their forums also has info about the camera. Olympus tech support is excellent. I called them many times for help.
