Great idea on "forwarding" I'll be doing the same to those I served with as well as others I know who were "there"
This trip would make a great book. If sarge has time when he gets back. He'll be busy for a week getting the snakes and alligators out of the pool.
Pounder - you have a way of making everything relevant eh ? Thanks

"There"? Wasn't it called "in country" ? Something like that. I wasn't but the term sticks in my mind.
Yes it was called in-country still is I just wanted to emphasize it just a bit nothing more. It's a whole lot different now. As Sarge's photos will surely show.
Have fun, soak it all in, take a ton of pics but above all do not go to the places that Luv You Longtime

I'm not even going to ask what Saigon Tea is. I was just talking to my dad who was there around '65 and he said no way in hell he would go back.
Will be watching for your posts, Sarge.
My cousins are on an around the world cruise and slated to visit Nha Trang in April. Nha Trang is where my brother was stationed in 1966-67. I am looking forward to seeing the country through both of you.
Have a great trip!!!
I will be watching for your post. My prayers are with you.

Hi Sarge. For quite a while now all the regular readers on UHH must have been aware that you have had this Vietnam trip coming up. Many perhaps will have wondered a little about your time there as a younger man and after forty years what a heady mixture of nostalgia, raw emotion, maybe some sadnesses and hopefully a cascade of delights and fond memories await you. Some places may have changed but so, I'm sure, have you. What won't change is that all the (thousands of) people here on this scrap of cyberspace wish you all the very best on this journey of a lifetime because when it comes down to it, that is most probably what this journey of yours represents, literally. We'd all like to make our own personal journeys, whether across Scotland, the UK, Europe, Africa, the Far East, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the USA and some folks are no doubt doing exactly this, in some form or another, as we speak. And I personally have been lucky enough to have had more than my fair share.
But for those who are not, we have you!
Get on out there and make every minute, no, every second count. Enjoy it. And we will look forward to enjoying your pictures - but especially your stories.
Best wishes and be safe.

Another Alabama redneck. Welcome. We seem to be multiplying.
Well glad to meet you friend. I guess I really put a spotlight on
the Red Neck part after I posted My Attempt At Birding. I hope
I don't get run off because I have had a ball reading the posts
and meeting all the good folks here. I watched for a long time
before trying to show a few things I like and it is great to see
others with the same interests. My ribs stay sore just trying to
read all the jokes from Sarge69. I hope he has a great time and
gets back safe. One year there was enough for me and I think I
saw where he was there six years. Till the day I die I will always
think that being raised in the woods and creeks here in the south and the guys that had my back is how I got home. When we see the crap going on in this fine country today we all need to stop and give prayer for those who didn't come home from
all the wars and conflicts. Enough said I'm sure this is not the forum for it. mdh
Sarge, Good Luck to you. Good thing you're going out country ( This one ) Because it sounds like pounder just met a long-lost relative..Morrisdh, and I believe I hear banjo's bein' tuned up. YIKES!!!  8-)

Have a great trip Sarg. And be safe. I would have loved to go along if I didn't have a ill wife to care for. Ive never been to Nam. I was an Korea vet myself. Never set foot on Korea was in the navy. It was three square meals and a warm bed for me. Keep us informed and keep that shutter finger working. We want to see everything. Cheers Hal.
