I currently have PSE9, and will be upgrading to PSE11 shortly. I have 2 plug-ins in PSE9, Topaz Adjust and Nik Silver Efex Pro. I'm guessing the new program will "write" over the existing program(??) Will my plug-ins still be there, or will I have to download them again?
Also, I like having hard copies of software that I purchase. I bought the Nik software shortly after being aquired by Google, and the rep told me that now all software is for download only, they would not mail me a cd. He told me that once I downloaded it, I could make a copy to cd to have for backup. I can't figure out how to do this (I am NOT a computer guy). Can anyone advise me on how to do this?? I would like a hard copy of Topaz as well.
Thank you.

PSE 11 will not overwrite PSE 9 - If you do not uninstall PSE9, the two version will both live on your computer.
You would need to check the documentation for the plug-ins to find out: 1. if they are compatible with PSE 11, and 2. what the installation procedure is.
I can't help you there, as I am not familiar with either plug-in.
As to making a DVD (a CD is probably way too small these days), do you have a DVD burner in your computer? If your computer came with a DVD burner, there should also be some software to burn DVDs. Again, you'd need to check the documentation on how to use it.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

When you download, save before running. Then you can save the downloaded file to CD/DVD.
You can't save an application using the installed files without using very specialised software (Ghost for one)
If you are running Win 7, it's easy. just locate your downloads folder and save the file to disc.
It is possible you have your Topaz plug-ins are also in the Download folder, see above for saving. If you have not saved them, talk to Topaz, they will almost certainly let you have a second copy if you registered the first.
Same may apply to the Nik software, I have dealt with Topaz before but not the Nik people.
Both Tapaz and silver effx should work fine in elements 11.
Topaz does not work on my pse 11 kept 9. Just to use topaz

Can't help you with the new software over the old question as I don't use PSE. As far as the downloading of software goes - do this:- when you get to the download stage the site will ask do you want to run or save this programme, click on save and save to a dvd (or your computer hard drive if yoy wish but DVD is better).
Topaz site says it works in PSE 11 You may need to upgrade your Topaz Plug-ins The downloads and upgrades are free if you registered
It's not a big job to just re-install the plug-ins when you upgrade - just a couple of clicks and they're in your new plug-in folder.
I keep copies of plug-ins I have purchased on an external drive, as well as on the main hard drive.

you can navigate to your plug ins folder and copy it onto your desktop. After you have upgraded find the same folder and then go to the desk top folder you saved, open it, copy everything in it and then paste it back into the upgraded elements folder you just navigated to and now you have everything back in there to use.
I would check with the makers of Topaz Adjust and Nik Silver Efex Pro. They should tell you or at least have instructions on how to install in PSE11.

Topaz can now be used as a stand along programme, and NIK should automatically install itself in your Photoshop software and can be found under the "Filter" drop down menu
