Buying the canon 60d. 42 nd st has it for $649. I have read countless times to use only reputable retailers are they a reputable retailer?
I would not buy from them again. Their "customer service" reps were very pushy, condescending and rude. The accessory kit I foolishly included in my order (because the Canon T3i was such a good price!) was not worth 1/4 what I paid for it.

I check all on line stores with resellerratings.com.
I would have no second thoughts buying from 42nd Street Photo.
See:

They seem to be better than they used to be but I would st ill spend more at B&H and know that I Am 100% secure. Good luck.

With my apologies to people who live in NYC (most of who won't care): they probably only seem rude if you don't live in NYC. In NYC they probably consider their behavior as normal.
But this outfit does not get rave reviews.
Well, I think elliot usually ships what he says he will ship.
BUT. ELLIOT IS A PUSHY SALES PERSON WHO WILL SAY ANYTHING TO MAKE A BUCK. THE KIND OF PERSON WHO GIVES NEW YORKERS A BAD NAME. HE REFUSES TO TAKE RETURNS. HE JUST KEEPS MAKING EXCUSES, AND TRIES TO SUBSTITUTE ANYTHING HE CAN. When he wouldn't return my calls I made a public complaint. Then he called, over and over again harassing calls.
Decorum and respect for the members here prevents me from saying what I really think of elliot. (scumbag).
Dont confuse with 47th street photo. Different place.
Did you know that 42 street, 47th street, B and H, and Adorama are all with in about a mile of each other in Manhattan. all within view of the empire state building.
B and H and Adorama are excellent, reputable sales companies. It is a pleasure to deal with them.
Thanks for your comments and links. I've decided to spend the extra 50 bucks and order it from best buy. It's still an awesome deal!

I find Adorama consistently reliable and trustworthy. And worthy of our support, because they give so much back with their free tutorials. Of course it's in the interest of selling more stuff. But thats what photographers like, right - more stuff.
Adorama also has staff that monitors the UHH forum.
B&H is also reliable and competitive.
Normally, I would buy from Adorama or B&H. I bought a Sony from 42nd because they had a significantly lower price. The rep was a little pushy but more than tolerable.
I've purchased a number of items from 42nd Street. While I've never had a problem they are about 1-2 days slower on delivery than other places like Adorama and B&H. Compare prices at all three and if speed of delivery is not an issue go with the least expensive.

47th Street use to be a great store. The present 47th St. Photo bought the name, but is not the same as the previous company. It is now a trading company located in Brooklyn and all they basically sell Opteka products -some good and somme very poor construction.
Not sure where you live, but make sure what you buy is not gray market, which will not have the full USA warranty on some items.

Good advice as they sell both gray market and US.
Some of the gray market items are marked "Brand New -USA Warranty" but it is not the manufacturer's USA warranty. Check "Item Includes" to see if it is the Mfg's warranty or call them.
B&H has it on sale for $699 (body only). They are very reputable. This also includes a free, high quality 16gb Sandisk memory card (class 10). Sale ends Feb 16.
