"A group of eight key senators has crafted a sweeping immigration overhaul deal that offers a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. Under an outline of the bipartisan plan seen by Politico, the deal tackles immigration reform in a comprehensive measure that opens the pathway to citizenship only after implementing stricter border control measures (ie, more agents and drones) and moves to ensure visitors leave the country when their visas are up.
The process for illegal immigrants would be two-step:
First, obtain probationary legal status by registering, submitting to a background check, paying a fine, and settling back taxes.
Then achieve permanent residency after completing requirements like learning English and undergoing a deeper background check."

This was also one of the stories on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Willaims.
Dollars to donuts says if this is enacted, none of these provisions will be enforced, absolutely none. Nobody will go through a background check, pay back taxes, pay a fine or learn English. Stricter border controls will not be implemented and nobody will leave when their visas are up. Amnesty will be granted to all with no restrictions. Then the gates will be opened, allowing the next batch of 11 million aliens to come flooding in. The only requirement will be that the new citizens register as Democrats. Then the eight key senators, along with the rest of their buddies in congress, will flip off all those people who try to do the right thing by following the rules and obeying the laws of the land.

poor illegals become American citizens and start
demanding that all these companies they now work
for, starts paying them minimum wages( which is
why they aren't hireing legal citizens to begain
with) plus Hoilday and vacation time, sick leave,

think of once all these first batch of illegals
becomes American citizens how they will cope with

illegals become American citizens, how must would they
get paid. Do you think they will work for the same prices
their being pay now. The reason their being allowed work
is because they work for cheap pay. Giving them American
citizenship gives them the rewards that goes with it. I know
quite at few people in Congress, I'd wouldn't mind seeing
replace with a few illegals making minmum wages,plus a
bonus now and then, plus OBAMA healthcare at no cost.

Some of your alarmism is not justified by the facts. Obama, without fanfare, has reduced the illegal immigration rate to nearly zero, after a high of a million a year. What we call the greatest generation were either immigrants or the children of immigrants. But, in those days there were no illegal immigrants. (first law passed in 1921) In fact until 1921 all you needed was steerage to come here and then pass the physical at one of the ports. TADH!

How many on this list are children of immigrants?

Would you be so against these immigrant folks if they were Swedes or Brits? Doubtful.

If you have driven across the US you will see we have lots of land and lots of opportunity for everyone.

BTW illegals do not get welfare or health care.

We are the only western nation to have come out of this recession. We are the only western nation that has a rosy future because we have a good size population of young people. If I were you I would praise the immigrants both legal and illegal. They will be the ones funding your SS and Medicare!

Just wondering why we call it reform of fixing the immigration system. It is not broken, the problem is we are not enforcing the immigration laws. You cannot fix that which is not broken. Do not blame the Illegals, they are only here to improve their lot. Blame our leaders that are so frightened to be labeled politically incorrect that they cannot call an illegal an illegal, he becomes undocumented.
I wonder if the border had been enforced what the actual number of unemployed would be now, maybe only ten million as opposed to 25 million.

France and anti-Semitism: the West and freedom of speech
I really want to know this: Western governments and media need to make up their mind, and fast. Their hypocrisy can't fly anymore. Is insulting religion part of the freedom of speech that they brag about--as they always preach and hector to Muslims--or is insulting religion and religious groups something to be condemned and not tolerated and even banned by law? Because I really don't know the answer. I basically get the impression that insulting Islam and Muslims is always defended as part of Western freedom of speech while insulting Judaism and Jews is part of legally prohibited hate speech? This is why even hypocritical Islamists are more consistent than Western governments as they call for banning insults to ALL religions. But Western governments and media want to distinguish between insults to Islam and insults to Judaism as if we don't notice. Also, look at this: "French groups even went so far as to sue Google for allegedly promoting “unsolicited and systematic associations between famous people and their Jewishness” through the service’s auto-complete function, meaning that typing in the name of a famous figure occasionally yields the word “Jew” or “Jewish” among the suggested searches." Who are the "French groups"? Does that mean that any reference to the religion of any person is now not acceptable or is it only in relation to Jewish people? I just want to understand Western laws better.

PS Personally, I don't believe that Jews or Muslims should acquire any special legal status to shield them from criticisms or even insults, just as we communists and anarchists receive regular criticisms and insults. All criticisms and insults should be legal provided that the person who hurl the insults is willing to accept the consequences of his/her prejudice or bigotry.

That,s right. Here in southern CA. they stand in front of Home Depot and other hardware and paint stores and take those jobs also.It is hard for a painter of carpenter to find a job. They take Jobs that Americans won't do because Americans refuse to work for the wages these people are satisfied with. If unemployment benefits keep getting pushed on unemployed workers they will continue to stay home and collect, allowing the Undocumented to do continue doing those jobs. I have never been unemployed since 1963, I have been not fortunate, just willing to do whatever it takes to earn a living. Americans please get off your arses and get over to Home Depot and get a job, if you need to learn a skill then do so, you are giving your nation away.
