I am still learning. If a lens is 17-270 why would you need the others. Doesn't 17-250 cover all these and more. Does a prime take better pics. Is 17-250 good for portraits and outside. I have read for hours about photography but still don't quite get all the lens. I know I have much much more to learn. I appreciate all the advice I can get. Thanks, Peggy
A prime lens is capable of taking a sharper image, not necessarily better.
is up to the photographer. Other than maybe your 50, unless the 70-300 is a white "L" lens you don't have any premium glass. Superzooms like the 18-270 are a compromise, trying to do it all. "Jack of all trades, master of none" (kind of like me) Good glass makes a difference in contrast & sharpness...and build quality. Lenses are an investment that will far outlast the camera body.
