I met Woody Woodpecker...

1st time sighting one of these.. Pileated Woodpecker. Huge bird. Could not believe my luck. At first I thought it was mechanical because it was just too... too perfect. And, in a residential neighborhood.

Thanks BigBear, they are rather elusive from what I gather, so I felt privileged to have had the chance to see one this close.

They have a very loud, distinctive call. I hear them all the time, but never see them around the house. darn! good shot!
