just installed Elements 10, am sure I'll have plenty of ?'s
to begin, do you always download new photos from your card directly into Elements or into My Pictures and then transfer to Elements, why?

I download my images directly from the camera into a folder I created that tells my the location and date of the shoot. For example: Fawn Lake 15oct11. I then open this folder in Elements (FILE>OPEN) and select the images. I do not use a card reader, for I feel the less I handle the card, the better. I find this method helps me keep track of my images better than Organizer.

One side thought, I also back the new folder up to an external hard drive, as well as CD's. The images I rate A+ also get tranferred to a second computer.

I personally do not like or use the organizer, but it does allow me to review a large number of photos without opening them individually in the editor. As I watch the slide show in organizer I either jot down the numbers of the ones I like enough to edit, or delete the unusable ones.

If using a PC, click on the icon on the bottom left, and it will search based on a file name. Sure the Mac has a similar feature.
