"Chasseur" was the name of the original Baltimore
schooner that sailed to England during the War of 1812 and brashly told King George they were under blockade (by one ship). She then sank or captured a large number of British merchant ships and was hailed back home as "The Pride of Baltimore." Hence the name of the first and second Pride of Baltimore.

Though the present ship is called the Pride of Baltimore, this little Dory which resides on the Pride is named "Chasseur" after the original schooner.

How exciting! Congratulations and great photo!

Thank you everybody. Your comments and interest in my website warm my heart. Unbelievable! Ten pages of UHH's and still climbing. Many of you have asked specific questions about the image. The light. It is sunlight. The Dory is outside on the deck of the Pride of Baltimore. It was summer and children and adults were everywhere. People dripping ice cream on the Dory's gunnels, children trying to climb into her, and me, trying to find the shot. I found it but the folks were still there. Through manipulation the people became the swirly background. Personally, I like black backgrounds if they fit the image. (Check out Furled on my Website.) Black makes the image Pop. I did not design the cover, BoatUS did that. They used my image which includes the Dory and the background. I think they did a great job with the colors they used for fonts etc. Particularly like the pulpit of the boat covering part of the title. It gives depth to the image. I took that pix a few years back so can't remember the camera. I generally shoot in auto and it may have been a Nikon DS 80. That is what I use today. Perhaps this is not the forum to broadcast an accomplishment but..I was bustin' my buttons and I faithfully follow the Hogs. You guys and gals are wonderful and I appreciate all the feedback! Ginny Kuhn

Hello Ginny,

I don't think there could be a
better edition than "Best Photos"
to have a cover shot on.

Congratulations.
