Hello All,
My name is Steve Boon and live in central southern Oklahoma, 4 miles from Lake Murrey and 10 miles from Lake Texoma. Rolling hills, lots of Live Oaks, and water are my surroundings.
I am 60 and just recently became interested in photography after some trips to the Texas gulf. And, if you were to ask me 5 years ago that I would be running around clicking away I'd say you were crazy.
The beginning of this journey seems to be with birds. Perhaps because I have a 25' pontoon boat so sneaking around is pretty easy.
Cameras today seem to be designed especially for old guys like me. Boy, they sure make it easy to get hooked on photography!
I look forward to sharing thoughts and pictures with, as they say in this part of the country, "ya'll"
Barred Owl, just east of Lake Murrey
Great Egret South Padre Island, TX
Pelican, Rockport, TX
Those are some great shots!! Well done!
Excellent photos and welcome to UHH

Hi Steve, welcome to the hog. Isnt this fun, running around like a chicken w/o a head. Keep shooting, but dont just limit yourself to bird pictures. Try landscape, mountain, city, just about everything in between. The owl picture is very good, but try to photograph objects just a little off center (refer to the rule of 3rds) The great Egret is excellent, perfect capture. The pelican im afraid doesnt make it at all. Next time shoot a vertical and get the whole bird in, or if all you wanted was the head, then zoom in and show just the head by itself. The eye will carry the picture in a closeup version. Hope i have helped. Looking forward to more of your shots.

Welcome to the forum, Steve. Fun place, some wonderful photos, very addictive, and lots to learn from some very nice folks.
Love the shot of the owl! Not easy to catch them.
Welcome and enjoyed pics.

Love the owl shot. I wish we had owl's around here that I could find. Keep on shooting...
Welcome. The owl and egret are "right on" and I agree with Rich on the pelican, although the color and clarity are good. Look forward to more pictures from you.
I have a cousin by the same name and same neighborhood but 5 years younger. Interesting. Glad to have you here on UHH. Great pictures.
