I have looked through a few EVF's and so far am unimpressed. Its like looking at an in-camera JPG, you do not see the actual colors the lens sees, rather you see a processed rendition based on the cameras pre-set parameters. Its may look fine and is close, but not exact, thats why I prefer the optical viewfinder.

The actual colors the lens sees has never been the same as how the sensor/processor or film represents them anyhow.
The newer EVF and LCD on cameras is closer to what is seen on a computer monitor.
OLED technology is getting quite good.

thanks for your input,, as I decided to go with the old ovf , and for the reason that it is something else to break..as I plan to have this camera forever (unless I hit lotto!!!) and seeing the scarcity of finding used a900/850.. seems like most people are holding on to them.. and thier value relativly staying on the higher end..

thanx for the help

I actually was sorry to see Sony put out the replacement of the A900 as an SLT (A99 which I don't see as a real replacement). I think they should have a replacement for the A900 with OVF and normal mirror, enhancing the performance bringing it up with the technology offered by such companies like Nikon and Canon. I own the A77 and am happy with it (I also own the A900 and A850) but see no reason to buy the A99 just for full frame, however if this was a true replacement (OVF) for the A900 (say A950) that offered better noise reduction at higher ISO or many other features, then I would be tempted to upgrade.
