Old friends (show us your "old" cameras)
I still have all my old film cameras...
So I thought I would start a new thread and share a few pictures of my "old friends" :)
I actually shot Ectachrome 100 transparencies with the Graflex. I wonder if anyone still processes E6 4x5's?
Graflex Crown Graphic
Leica IIIf
Motor driven Nikon F
The F3 was my favorite film camera. Although in December of 1993 I was shooting my sister-in-laws wedding in Paris France with the F3 and the shutter jammed. Oh was I mad at that camera! Mainly because I had forgotten to bring my spare body to the church.
Nikonos 5
Motor driven F3
shame on me...I sold my Nikon. I sold my Canon.
the vivitar I couldnt sell, but I am to lazy to dig it out of the closet and photograph it. My mother has a brownie in her closet.

My first 35mm in high school was a Vivatar.
I got mine just a wee bit later than High School, a gift from my dad....it was a kit, came with a telephoto lens, 2x mulitplier, and regular lens. Got some great photos with it...but was averaging about 2 good ones per roll of 24. Digital made it so much easier to shoot shoot shoot and shoot. Kind of a funny story...
Dad got it for his office workers on the job. I borrowed it and got a pretty cool balloon photo which took second prize in a contest. the win was a point and shoot. Turned out the Vivitar was to complicated for the office workers so we traded. I got the viv and dad got the P&S for his staff. uh sorry to bore you probably.....just thinking about him now with holidays and vivitar discussion i guess.
cool pics you took of your old stuff...I bet there is a gold mine of that stuff around.
Was it in a hard shell case that straped around your waist? Maybe we had the same kit... :)
YES...that is so funny. Kidney shaped. It may have had a shoulder strap too. I never really used it. I got a soft case, and eventually tamron lenses and an adapter so as not to strip the threads.
I kept it for a really long time and then on vacation I dropped it and the shutter button popped off. My boyfriend of the time, who is now my hubby has a way with fixing things and he fixed it, but I was afraid of it so, I bought my first Canon EOS just in case. Funny how i ditched the eos with all of its fancy stuff and kept the viv with its simple light meter...needle on the right i think.
Found this picture on line, this is what I had except mine was a black body...
That's too funny, we started out with the same camera kit both bought for us by our fathers. Small world.
I think I traded the whole kit and some cash for a Nikon 80-200 f4.5 zoom that I still have and never use anymore.
Vivitar 220 SL kit
oh yeah i forgot about the flash. Well you forced me to get off my butt. I thought mine looked different and had to go find out. I have a 250SL black. I gotta tell you that bad boy is heavy compared to my current Olympus SP 590 UZ. And thats out of the bag with the standard lens..I think Im going to get me some black and white film and take viv out next weekend. Thanks John...

Pretty Cool Story. Reminiscing is good.
thanks...so glad my blubbering could be appreciated
This is an Argus STL 1000, it was bought in Vietnam during the war by my father. He gave it to me before he passed because he knew how I felt about photography. It is not in working order now as some parts inside have deteriorated to the point that they need replacement, but once that is done I do intend to use it to get vintage looking photos (if I can).
Nikon John...Im wondering what you shoot with now?
here is a group shot of some of mine

That looks like an old Mamiya Sekor. Reckon they could've made it for Argus?
