Anybody still uses this lens. I try to use this lens which remember my good old days of F3 with my newly purchased D600 and this is big task (slow lens, no AF or VR). Anybody has a similar experience. I would like to hear more opinions before breaking a bank. Please see some attached samples.

Yep I'm still using mine on a D300, great lens, and once you enter the max aperture and focal length into the camera under the 'Non-CPU' function in the Lens Data Menu, the exposure meter and focus indicator will work perfectly with it. I have to assume that the D600 will have the same feature. You just have to get used to focusing again and not having a zoom.
Hope you can get one at the right price. Of course as I'm using mine on a D300 it's effectively a 600mm lens. The 150-500 Sigma is another option, have a look at what 'Review God' Ken Rockwell reckons.
