How do you see the settings on these awesome pics ????
when you do long exposure, every shot's lighting condition is so vastly different, EXIF from one to the next cant say much...really?

Vino, I've been to Alaska four time with cameras. Take your longest lens, your fastest lens and your widest lens. You will use all three.
THANK FOR THE REPLY!
Does it make any sense to take a 300mm 2.8 AF with a TC301 2x or settle with the 70-200 with the TC 1.4?
FYI - The 50mm is 1.4 and the 35mm is a 1.8
If you are shooting something and the ocean is in the background, try to keep the horison level.
Make sure you use image stabilization turned on. Other then that just shoot and have fun. I took 1500 shots on a recent cruise to Mexico and 80% came out well.

Get up before sunrise and shoot as the ship comes into harbor. Little competition for a spot on the rail and I found that a good cup of coffee and smoked salmon on a bagel with cream cheese helped me greet the day. Also if the weather turns bad...go for the shot...inclement weather is great for the unusual mood picture. I took some great shots in both Canada and Alaska and had a blast.

Always keep the strap around your neck. I've seen a couple posts on here by people who lost their cameras overboard.
Keep the lens cap on as much as possible. Salt water air carries corrosives that can eat away at anything. Car finishes suffer from salty air unless they have a clearcoat and are waxed regularly. Silverware will turn black almost immediately if exposed to salty air. Bare metal jacks on your TV, home stereo, or other audio equipment corrode and start cutting out. AA and AA battery ends start to darken as soon as you open the sealed plastic package. That means glass coatings could be affected on a sea cruise as well.
Don't eat too much...

I have never been to St. Kitts, Curaçao, or Aruba. But I will be there in two weeks. If anybody has been to these islands, do you have any photogenic locations I should make sure to shoot. I will only have about 8 hours at each port, so I cant afford to miss an opportunity. I have searched some sites on the web, but first person reports are much better. Thanks in advance.

I will be on Adventure of the Seas.
Ill be on the Jewel of The Seas, going out of San Juan....St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Curaçao & Aruba myself the end of October.
I'll miss the Voyager class ship that we usually take out of NJ, but the Itins out of NY/NJ suck this year.
Do report back! Please!

I sure will post some images ... As soon as I get back and download them all.
I think the Adventure is slated for updating in 2013, so she will be out of commission.
