That is pretty cool!! I would look at Etsy.com. I'm not sure how it works or how successful it would be but I have heard it is the place for arts and crafts to sell. I've heard a few stories of high success too but nothing I could validate.

Not just to put a damper on your parade, but .... Good Luck!

About 6 years ago I started trying to sell photo prints on Etsy. I may have sold a total of 7 items. And this was in the days when Etsy was less crowded than it is today; and it was also much more seller friendly. I've tried all kinds of different effects and techniques.

There are hundreds of thousands of artists/photographers all over the internet trying to make a few dollars by selling creative stuff; whether prints, canvas, or any other medium.

I'm not saying don't do it, cause I'm still working on finding just the right product and sales venue. I'm just saying that you need to have something very, very different and unusual .... priced just right.

Besides Etsy, there is Artfire, Bonanza, Webstore, CafePress, Zazzle, and many others, even EBay. In addition to on-line venues, try to create some local venues--flea markets, consignment shops, art galleries, souvenir shops, gift shops, etc. I think people will buy quicker if they can see and touch your product. None of this has worked for me because of physical limitations making it difficult to get out to different venues.

In addition to all the above, there is the option of having your own web site. Free places to start are Yola and Weebly. But, no matter what, you've got to drive, or pull, people to your web site or other sales venue.

Best of luck! You could be one of the successful ones. I hope so.

I don't know how it works but there are ways to get your website to come up on google searches when various key words are searched. It unfortunately costs, at least as I understand it. I would talk to a web marketing guru and see what they can help you with.

I see pictures as memorys. But when you can make a picture as a piece of art. That takes time. Some are blessed. Like me it's going to take time. Again thank you for your input

There are dozens of microstock websites out there that you could try. Istock.com, fotolia.com bigstock.com just to name a few. It's a competitive market and you will want to read and become familiar with their requirements but from what I see here, you should have no problems getting your images accepted. Good luck.

You should try photo4me.com as well. They are commission based so you earn money each time one of your pics sell. Also, you retain the copyrights for your pics, unlike those other sites that give you a dollar for your work then sell it a thousand times for five bucks. Not an even trade if you ask me. cool pic by the way.

I just Googled "digital photos for sale".. The first site to come up was "Big Stock Photo". They advertise 9 million photos for sale. I searched for "horses" and came up with 45,404. Just Arabian Horses (my speciality), 1,404. Don't give up trying to sell your photos, but just getting noticed will be difficult. Your best bet might be local arts/crafts meets where you can display your best work. I've pretty much given up actually selling anything, even the owners of the horses I've photographed won't pay, although they are very happy to take gifts. Just my experience, I'm sure others are making a little here and there

You might want to consider making blank cards. Your images scream note card to me. See if you can find a local outlet...where you can show your face every now and then. people seem to like buying from locals. Its kind of the in thing now. I have a connection with a local Garden Center and have sold a few prints from there...no big money though, chump change actually.
You just need the nerve to go in and ask. I tried it at the local drug store too and the guy said sure. On that one I never followed up because I thought it was a little too close to the Garden Center. Even a flea market or as noted above a juried craft show. Good luck and keep it fun. That is really what counts.

Cool smoke pictures. Hope you can make some sales. I would like to sell some of my landscapes as well but I have not tried yet. :)

Very helpful, Mr. Wilson -- I appreciate your exhaustive list. I haven't tried anywhere near that many sites, but agree 100% with your observations. The market place is crowded, its a buyers market, and you have to have something truly unique and be in the right place at the right time. I've had better luck working locally and slowly building up referrals -- emphasis on the word "slowly". Its a long hard journey, but I do it more for the passion than the money.

Lockdown,
I like what I see and think it should sell, what size are you making hard copies in? Also my recommendation is sell them at a gallery, I think they would look magnificent in a poster size.
