What Ho Marc.

I never noticed your location. Before I moved here I worked in the photographic section and also on the machines of the East Grinstead Observer and Crawley paper plus seven editions of the Sussex Express and County Herald. Small world. Great photographs.

As an Exiled Englishman the very thought of Ribena makes me dream of home. Rum and Bena is my favorite happy drink. Tried to get a mortgage on a bottle of Ribena, a jar of Marmite and a jar of piccallily but it was a no go. It is almost unavailable in Florida. As are pickled onions! What a hell hole! Hoping to come over in May and the bags will be loaded up coming back. Do they still make Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney Pies in a can? Would kill for one of them. Am sitting in an empty airpost lounge, missed flight so its tempting to head for Heathrow instead of Orlando. Give me more reasons, PLEASE

Sounds delicious!
Delicious photos too. I have to agree that the glass beads are distracting.

sorry to hear you dislike the glass discs Nikon, i really thorght they added other interest to the photo :(

Hi Marc :D The problem is you are asking us to look at the water droplets but have over complicated this by adding too many effects, its easily done .

Hi Baz (nice mirror carp mid double?)
Heres a quick insight to how I shot the photo's
1.Suspended water dropper ~ i used a plastic bottle with a small hole drilled in the bottom plugged with foam to goven the drop speed set up on tripod.
2.Catching bowl / tray ~ i used a pyrex baking dish (must be clean)& placed beneath the suspended bottle.
3.DSLR & closish focus lens ~ E510, Zeiss 50mm manual lens mounted on 2nd tripod
4.External flash unit ~ speedlite flash placed in various locations around the dish & sync fired remotely via DSLR
5.Remote shutter release ~ a must really but i have tried DSLR built timer with success.

Putting it all together ~
Get a regular pattern of dropping water into the dish, focus upon the splash spot as close as possible, place a pencil, pen etc within the splash spot & focus again
Commence counting the interval between splashes & firing the shutter
Its hit or miss but great fun

I found good results from following settings ~
iso 100 / 200
f 8 - 11.5
shutter speeds 1/125 1/100

Once happy with splashes focus etc & added milk to the catching dish, ribena to the dropping bottle

There are much more detailed tips, tuturals on the net if you fancy ago at it

I chose the last photo as I think the composition of round glass complements the round ring water splash. Different strokes for different folks, and thanks for the heads up on your process.
