Very nice. Funny, it's very similar to another that I did and then didn't submit because I was afraid it was oversharpened (I tend to oversharpen). I personally liked the sharper image and maybe I should have submitted that. Here's what I had.
water colors
I like yours even better than my sharper one,John. How did you accomplish the extra shine?
I have a tendency to oversharpen at times also, I used a considerable amount of contrast. I find the one exposure adjustment which can turn a nice picture into a wow picture is contrast. If I'm adjusting a picture shot in jpeg its the first adjustment I usually make.

Here's mine...bottom of ladder, where yours is the top.
I love waterfalls and the action of water. This is lovely, as well as the edited versions. This is such a great place to learn from others!
momy took a good picture, love it. John what ever you did to intensify it, good call. you guys make a great team. congrats.

The last one, with the trees in the background... really really looks a LOT like a spot I used to go and sit for hours by, sketching the scenery, when I was a kid.
"My" place didn't have handrails back then though... it was next to an old mill that they still used to crack corn for feed, in Delaware.
Thanks for the sweet memories... very nice pictures!
And Mommy: I like the one you thought you over-sharpened best. It's smack dab in the middle of the changes made and, to me, looks more realistic and natural.
I usually love photos with LOTS of contrast too, though... so as "art".... the over sharpened one would work very nicely. :)
The best I can get on shots like these, (as mentioned/shared in another post somewhere about waterfalls) is from the side. Straight on or nearly so, makes the picture look flat to me.
These are nice!

Thanks, tilde.....this place is in Mount Vernon, Maine Last years picture with an older camera. Trees have not turned yet this year, but we all know it is coming.
Here is a picture of what was there ages ago, probably a Mill, only thing left is the chimney.
A bit overdone with processing.
Thanks to everyone for your constructive comments and encouragement/kind comments. It is appreciated as it is very helpful info for further improvement.
Wow! That's beautiful. Both edited and unedited.
