I know what the solution to this is and here it is.

The solution you see is this...... You awake every morning and the fix is staring at you in the mirror, both the cause and solution. And until that is recognized by all we will continue going where we are going.

The republican attitude of my way or the high way needs to come to an end, and that goes to anyone else that has the same attitude.....

Agree with your "fix". Until "we the people" again get involved in politics, even though we don't want to, the situation in Washington will not change. This means contacting your elected officials (who CAN change things) instead of posting on this forum (which, other than venting, serves no purpose at all). Mostly, we don't even think about them until we see their names on a campaign poster or the ballot, then we give them our vote, knowing nothing abut them save what we see on television. THAT'S what got us into this mess!

The OTHER thing, and this has been stated before, we have GOT to stop the "versus" thing; Dems VS Repubs, Left VS right, etc. NEITHER side has the answer but with CONSTRUCTIVE arguing and mashing ideas together, a workable COMPROMISE can be found. That's how this nation came into existance!

'Blurry-Eye' and all you others are going to have to get over it-Obama won the election, period! Now it's time for Republican (and Democratic) congressmen to move on from wasting the past four years of being obstructionists, with the sole mission of "getting him un-elected," to doing their jobs in Congress. I wish I had their benefits-healthcare and retirement, not to mention being able to vote in their own raises. My retirement savings has been held hostage to their whims and tantrums these past months.

If we the people paid more attention to our government and less to Tiger Woods and Lindsay Lohan these problems might just disappear..

I used to blame the politicians, until I finally realized they are simply playing the cards we give them. Yes, many of them are liars, but we know that and still put them in office. Folks love to blast the congressmen because it's a whole lot easier than taking personal responsibility. Nothing will get better until personal responsibility once again is a valued aspect of character, but unfortunately the current trend is opposite.

So Tschmath, what happened to the democratic promise that bills would be posted for 72 hours online for public review before being passed? Seems that was thrown out the window some time ago... And can you point to anything that would suggest that the compromise bill was not voted on just three minutes after being delivered to the Senate for review?, I have seen nothing that would suggest that this did not occur as has been previously reported

If the Republicans had come to govern instead of totally obstruct, this would have been solved 72 days ago, forget 72 hours. Your beloved party has been taken over by ultra right wing lunatics. Watch what happens to Republicans in 2014 when we see nothing but whole lot of Sharon Engels, Christine O'Donnels and and Joe Millers running in twice as many primaries. They'll all win, beating moderate, sensible Republicans, and be beaten in the general election, just like 2012. The Republican Party is doomed to the same fate as the Whigs in this country.

Hummm...last time I checked it still takes two to screw.....Democraps and Repubs.

I'm so sick of this mantra about obstructing. These democrats who keep spouting this have no idea how many jobs bills (over 30) have been passed by the repub house only to sit on the senate desk because Harry Reid doesn't want repub jobs bills. Obama and the democrats have clearly stated they will accept only their own solutions, as Obama told the nation that he is now driving the bus and the republicans can come along for the ride.

Whatever, your retirement savings are being destroyed by the FED, it would be nice if you paid better attention to what is happening rather than to the dem talking points! The republicans are not doing anything to your retirement savings, read about the FED quantitative easing which is currently in round three and there is talk of even more to come, and calculate for yourself who has been destroying your savings...

Funny thing about QE is that it is done under the guise of expanding the money supply and keeping interest rates low, but FED policy and federal regulations has tightened the money, it sits in overnight deposits at the FED because at about the same time the FED introduced Quantitative Easing they started paying interest on reserve deposits something that they had not done previously..... How the hell does that work? If they want the money working in the economy why did they start paying interest on it to keep it out of the economy????

The Fed tactic of increasing the money supply is an age old technique used by governments to devalue their currency to make it easier for them to pay their debts with cheaper dollars and thus continue spending for votes.

My hat off to you my good man, I believe if every
one would use your response as a place to start
fixing the problem we're in, we'd be a better Nation
today. I believe you nailed it when you stated it
all about Responsibility. We would rather blame some
one else or party, because it's so much easier, then to
take a long look in the mirrow.
But sooner or later we will all have to make a decision
as to who really is the blame. Want we.

I have a solution to this issue. A new rule (constitutional ammendment perhaps) that states no legislative bill can exceed 1000 words.

That would solve so many problems!

Good idea but lets add a rule that every member has to certify that he actually read the bill before the vote.

How long will it take before we the people demand that
they do their jobs, oh I forgot we just elect them, their
jobs are to tell us what to do.

It's too late. My prediction is: The President will over ride the two term limit and be our president until he dies. Sort of like a dictator.

Very good point. Using common sense and true facts it won't be long before tschmath is calling you names.

Too many good points by partisans on both sides of the issue. We the people are the ones bickering while Rome burns.

The President, our President, did not leave the country to go on vacation. He is in Hawaii.
