Critique please, Image of my gorgeous daughter. :)
Here is a shot of my daughter, before a birthday party. Age 7.
She is quite beautiful! But why does she look so serious? I would think she would be smiling from ear to ear..

I like this shot, very pretty young girl.
There are a couple of issues I am seeing.
There are a few hot spots, one on her left arm and one on her dress.
You've also cropped her off at the wrist joint, any crops should never be at a natural joint, it makes the image look a little awkward.
The skin tones also look a little off, could be my monitor so take that with a grain of salt.
I like the image, I think it's wonderfull. Nicely in focus, nice sharp eyes, get connection with the camera.

Thanks. Didnt notice the hot spots before. Good point. Also good point about the crop, except that this is the real image size. This is from when i first got my camera and knew nothing. Shot is auto. I juse came across it and decided to do some editing to beef it up a little.

Ok, well thank you. Her arm looks a little spotty though. What did u do? Did u just use a brush and tone down the exposure/brightness?

I did do a poor job on the arm but I used the clone tool in photoshop. The arm is different colors .... reflections, light, etc. .... and I should have spent a little more time getting all the tones right. Of course it's fun .... and good if you spend enough time.
That is photoshop CS5.5.
She is very pretty, but on a seven year old, I am not sure about the lip stick.....they grow up fast enough as it is. I hope she had a wonderful time at the party! :)

To me the background color is very distracting, should have been something softer and lighter colored. Your eye goes to the background before the very pretty girl, and she should be the focal point not the background.

Um yes, she doesnt usually wear lipstick, or any makeup. She wanted to try some on. And this pic makes her look like she is 16, not 7. Just wanted a critique on photography issues...
Understand that, I cropped it to utilize the rule of thirds so I could put her eyes at one of those points
I think its a really cute shot! I love the very sweet, small smile.
