With the past few days postings it appears this site needs to be re-named: "Guns and Ammo and BTW a Few Words About Photography".

How has this happened? Aren't the editors reviewing postings any longer?

For we photographers it is a waste of bandwidth.

This forum has not changed, but you just have a problem. Take it somewhere else. Oh, and by the way.
I think you need to have a real good bowel movement. I think it’s backed up way too far Into your head.

Edit, Edit!

I probably have some of those somewhere. The last kid I taught to shoot was our daughter, long ago when she was still in middle school. I bought a child's .22 target rifle just to teach her. Then she preferred handguns, the bigger the hole in the end and the bigger the BOOM the more she liked it. She is only 5'3" and 124 lbs now, according to her. I ask where she is hiding two of those inches and the 24 lbs. I get a glare in return. Once when someone said something about her size she pretty much yelled "I am not Tinkerbell!"

Let's send the "guns bother me" group to my hometown. I doubt things have changed much. When hunting season starts as soon as the kids get home from school you see some of them on bikes with rifles and shotguns tied to the handlebars heading out of town to hunt. At the County High School, the Principal had a sign that went up on the first day of hunting season. "Do not leave your guns in your cars or trucks where someone might steal them, bring them to the office and they will be locked up in the supply room with my gun."

Full Disclosure Dept: I am a retired LEO and have always had an interest in firearms and shooting. (Arguably that could be my bias).

There are many aspects of photography in which I have no interest. I have no problem not looking at that which does not interest me. In the same vein, I have no interest in criticizing photographic subjects which do not interest me.

Dennis' photographs are (in my opinion) professionally done. From their inception firearms have been looked upon by many as objects of industrial art. As part of that viewpoint, over the centuries, up to the present, firearms have been embellished, collected, and displayed.

The Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, WY, and the book 'Steel Canvas' by R. L. Wilson are just two of countless examples that illustrate the concept of firearms as functional art.

I submit a 'live and let live' attitude would be of benefit in some quarters here.

I've been to the The Buffalo Bill Center, a wonderful place and not just the gun museum part of it. I also own R.L Wilson's Steel Canvas and his Ruger book, Winchester Book and one other all giving examples of art and craftmanship melding together.

Guns are some of the few stuffs that can be art and then some. Truthfully, very few things can be as polarising as religion, as guns. Even withing the enthusiasts, factions happen where one would insist their favorite is the one and
only.
A guns presence is something that can be be both terrifying, brutal, hated and yet be the absolute need, and safety and peacemaker.
Even its use can be polar opposites. Manipulations can be an art, majestic and entertaining to downright depicable harryfing act.
In a nutshell, it can not fit. It's one of those that need to be understood without bias as any inclination will immediately tip the balance to extremes.
Like wine that clouds the senses, guns amplify ones thoughts and action. Empowering whoever weilds it, means it really is on the individual, not the tool. Like the pen that woo with love notes and break hearts with the same words, guns would always be dependent on who holds it. The individual would always be the difference. His heart, his mind, his purpose. It is a tool. It is a jewelry, it is a symbol, it is an ideology of whoever has it in control.

Since I never go to the gallery I don't know but if someone posted photo of his guns I still think it's about photography. Now since you said it, I am going to go there and see.

It is about the photos of his gun collection. Might it contain some info on the photo, I find it no different than when describes a location or....

Cambriaman, You haven't posted a photo in a "photography" section of UHH since October 2021, and only two since 2019. Shame on you for complaining.

It appears that Photo Gallery saw fifty new topics posted yesterday. I assume there were also a bunch of new topics in the sub-gallery Birds + a sprinkling in the volunteer-managed sections. Maybe time for you to learn how to navigate UHH in order to have a more personally satisfying experience?

btw, in Photo Gallery any photo of any thing - even guns - is allowed...as long as it's not a naked human

Are you directing this question to the OP? He created this topic in Main Photography Discussion on May 7. Admin moved the discussion to chit-chat later that day.

The photos he's complaining about are in Photo Gallery, nothing to do with wandering or with chit-chat. You'd understand this if you read any of the responses before commenting.

Well I did go there and saw his photos. I think his photos are OK to be in the gallery, although he wanted to show his guns he did wanted to show his photography skills too. His photos are more suited to be in the gallery than Jerry's "Horse Bite" photos. Jerry's "Horse Bite" photo should be here rather than the gallery.

Glib word usage has become more common since the use of computer-based devices. For example, people surf the internet until they get a hit!!

You must be blind , numerous hand guns on 3 days . I have nothing against guns , but i thought there where too many .About putting a limit of 2 or 3 per day . Now , complaining about a member only 2 photos posted in his life , they could be more if it was easier to do ..
