With an 18% approval rating, the fiscal cliff looming, our great leader, via executive powers gave congress a pay raise. The total for this raise is 1 billion dollars. Does this mnake sense to you??

I think they should get a negative pay raise of about 100 percent.

IMHO they should be rewared as a result of their productivity and based on inflation.
TYPICAL raises in manufacturing, for example are 3% average.
That means, in my opnion, they should get zero raises for the next 200 years or so.
They get outrageous perks, benefits, and unheard of medical.
They serve us, their perks, benies and medical should reflect what we enjoy.

If only Thomas Jefferson was in office today, maybe he would not have been broke.

Not just the Congress, our over worked VP and most federal employees too. This same congress (they really aren't worthy of a capital letter) cut the Social Security raise from the cost of living index because they need to use the funds in the Trust Fund to cover their borrowing.

But, "we the People" are to blame! We keep sending the same idiots back!

Makes just as much sense as our politicians recent pay rise, announced just before they break for Christmas, when everyone is distracted by their holiday preparations! These things should be performance based, same as the rest of us.

I work at the VA Hospital in Baltimore, we have not seen an increase in two years; and, it was just extended through March!
Them getting a raise just sucks. They really should be made to enjoy the same benefits and perks the rest of us do.

WHAT? Are you kidding me? OK, it's now time to do something. Vote them out, be very verbal about why you want them out. who do they think they are? GODS. I would vote to give them a raise if they actually did something. By now I think we all know they are there only for what they can get for themselves.

Not just the USA politicians the world over are only in it for what they can get. It's no use voting them out because the next lot will be just as greedy

And Social security got a 1.7 % raise.
Please note: the average SS recipient makes $1275/month.

After a google search I am thinking our elected public officials are nothing more than politicians, sadly we are to blame since they obviously pulled the wool over our eyes with the promise of chocolate milk out of every drinking fountain.

Well, the President did interrupt his Hawaii vacation to come back to D.C. and deal with our lack of money. After giving everyone in Congress and the V.P. a raise he then turned over the "cliff" talks to Biden. The President has more important things to do like.... there goes the Alzheimer's again, I can't think of what those things are but I'm certain they are more important than the bankruptcy of our country..

If I recall there were many months of discussion on UHH leading up to the election, where the conservatives among us warned about what was coming.
