Great photo and beautiful couple. I will probably ride to my own funeral. Ride with the American Legion Riders. great group and we go on a lot of interesting rides. Used to ride with the Knights of Inferno a fire department group. Maybe you guys can rent a bike when you go on vacation.

Nice picture! The picture of me on the bike were taken with a regular camera, might have been with my Nikon S9700 Coolpix, or my friends Canon?
It was taken by the Grandjean overlook on Highway 21
I sure do miss riding, but then again I really miss being younger like back then.
We have stopped at that overlook many times. Hwy 21 was our favorite road to ride. Yeah, we miss being younger, too.

That would be fun, and we’ve thought about that, too.

Thanks. I was a Navy pilot for that effort.
Man, you guys had to dodge those SAM’s over the North. Too many of you guys bought it over the North. Thanks for your service.

I often feel guilty for saying I'm a Vietnam Navy Pilot vet because I was never in harms way.
Me and my peers were fighting two wars.
One was with the Soviet Union's submarines. They were armed with multiple ballistic missiles with multiple warheads aimed at our important targets. We trained and planned to sink them with a really big explosion before they got a chance. We won that war! They gave up and went home without us ever blowing any of them up.
The second was to fly a barricade around Vietnam to ensure that "naval intelligence" knew what was shipping in and out. It took a half dozen coordinated P-3s most days. Our main weapon was a 35mm Bessler Topcon, a 135mm lens and Tri-X.
The guilt comes in when I was always safe, slept in clean and cool quarters, ate in dining rooms and went to base clubs with 10 cent happy hour drinks.
Back to the topic... My S23 phone would have taken much better photos than the Bessler if we could have figured out a little better telephoto. As it is, the S23 does have three lenses and does better at telephoto than I ever expect.

But you guys had a very important role to play that helped to ensure the (relative) safety of the troops on the ground. Good intel was about the most important thing, along with displaying a show of force to Russia. They understood that. So thanks for what you did, and don’t feel guilty.
