Tom, I've been a fan of NASCAR since the days of Fireball Roberts, Marvin Panch and Lee and Richard Petty along with many others of that genre! I continue to follow NASCAR to this day, but I am less enthused now with the current rules for the design and engine rules for the cars. Yes, driver safety has been greatly improved, but save for the varied "wraps" on the cars, they all look the same and none have a decided power edge. I particularly have lost interest in the races run on the super speedways such as Daytona and Talladega where there is little real racing and huge multi-car accidents due to bump drafting and pack racing. I now am much more interested in the road course and short track venues where the real racing talent decides the victory.

Not much of a NASCAR fan except, my wife’s maiden name is Hendricks, and you have half of their team here. #9 and #48. Got into this because of a friend at church, he met our dog, Hendricks, and mentioned that he cheers them on.

Thanks for stopping by and for commenting.

Nice shots of Johnson and Elliott's cars, Tom.

I am a NASCAR fan. I put Cup and Xfinity races in line right behind sprints and midgets. I used to really like Indy cars, but they lost most of their appeal to me when all the cars became the exact same, sans the engine. Indy Car racing was much better in the "old days" when cars were unique. Unfortunately, NASCAR is also headed in that direction, which will cause me to lose interest there, too.

P.S. NASCAR's charter system also stinks.

There--that's my little rant for the day.

Hi, John.

I, as well as anyone, can understand your growing frustration with certain aspects of modern racing in several series. Uniformity may even the playing field, but it also saps the excitement right out of things. In NASCAR events, I found myself hoping for wrecks...just for excitement. And, really, what kind of crap is that where I sit there and hope to see wrecks. The main reason that I'm still a fan of the Daytona 24 Hours race is that there are many classes of cars running and enough good racing to keep my interest up.

Hi, Bob.

I understand completely how you are starting to feel about NASCAR, particularly relative to the super speedways.
I drew similar conclusions a long time ago. In fact, I heard grumblings from died-in-the-woll NASCAR fans that they are losing interest quickly. NASCAR needs to rethink their posture about some things,
