YEP. Classic Zappa. It's along the lines of the Nike slogan, "Just Do It."

I'm a huge fan of Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Bennie Goodman, Sinatra, Billie Holliday, and so many more from the 30s and 40s. But I will listen to just about anything. High Point where I live is home to the John Coltrane Jazz and Blues Festival, each Labor Day Weekend. We'll be there again this year. And I'm an avid rock listener. At Davidson College in the early '70s, we had a student-run FM station. I was the operations manager. We played classical, jazz, blues, folk, funk, rock, hard rock, acid rock, punk, a smidge of country, trance, dance, disco, big band, soul, comedy, show tunes... pretty much whatever. If it was interesting and clean enough for airplay, we played it.

Lately, I'm a huge fan of three classically trained kids who've been playing rock since they were 7, 10, and 12. They just played to sold out crowds across Europe and the UK, and sold out 10,000 seats at a concert in Mexico City β€” to be held in February of 2025 β€” in one hour. The story of how three little bilingual Mexican Catholic school kids would revive rock music for Generation Z is an inspiration and a half. It's a deep rabbit hole of a story full of positivity and hope.

I'm a huge fan of Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Benn... (show quote)

Minnesota Public Radio has a local station called The Current. No commercials (public radio) except their own promotional spots. They will play just about anything, and there are several different weekly programs focusing on local (Minnesota) music or different genres, etc.

No wonder I don't know him. I essentially stopped listening to pop music before the Beatles were big, and by 1966 I was already reaching back to the Big Band era. I have been listening to the 1940's ever since.

Haha...I don't think *anyone* would put Frank in the pop music catagory.

There is an excellent biography of Frank Zappa on Amazon Prime. The rental price today is 98 cents. Well worth it.

Really? You cannot come up with something original like your own thoughts?

I was dumbfounded when I read this reply. So in your mind, if I post a recipe for a cake or a book recommendation, I should instead come up with my own recipe or write my own book? If I post a link to a performance of a musical composition that inspires me, I should instead write my own music? If I post a joke, I should instead make up my own joke? Really?

A quote that seems more germane to Wrong-wrong-no.

The assertion of FZ does not apply to my photographic work. I saw early that selling my photographs would introduce a bias in my efforts. I could not but lean toward money shots over my inclination to follow my eye when deciding what to photograph. I never accept money for my photographs.

I have no problem accepting money for my photos, but I don’t actively try to sell. Although I will say that most of what I have sold is wildlife, and while I do enjoy shooting wildlife, I mainly shoot it because I do it while I’m kayaking or hiking and I’m often kayaking or hiking.

When I was younger, I wasn’t much of a Frank Zappa fan. I later came to enjoy his music and appreciate the lyrics.

As for quoting his lyrics, it is a matter of understanding the context.
