Green Heron.

I noticed this Green Heron deep in the bush on his nest. I had been shooting birds in flight on MANUAL with my Sony 600mm f4 @f4, 1/3200 sec. iso 500 with a two stop down on EV for white birds in flight.
A small shaft of light was on his eye so using the Sony I could see what my exposure was on the bird so I stopped down more using my iso for another stop until I saw the lighting I wanted and took the image.
I have my rear wheel set to iso, so I can quickly go up or down quickly and see how it effects the image while looking through the viewfinder.
Thanks for looking.
Excellent portrait Bill. Knowledge of your craft and your equipment paid off. I probably would have been still fiddling with controls after the moment had passed. Kudos on a beautiful photo.

What a great capture & thanks for sharing the detailed shooting info. How do you change the aperture & shutter speed? Some u-tubers that teach & do workshops are using the control ring on the lens for iso. I guess it is what works for one & what one's memory muscle is programmed to! Thanks for any replies Bill.
Great portrait shot w/ great lighting. I also appreciate your details
love it. thanks for sharing.
