Thanks Jo. I brought both cameras (my other is a Canon 90D DSLR) and used the G5X almost exclusively when we were off of the ship and the 90D most of the time when we were on the ship. On our 2018 cruise I only had my DSLR (an 80D then) and brought my "walking around lens" (18-135) as well as my wide angle and telephoto. I only used the telephoto the second day and the wide angle a couple of times, so I now only bring that camera with the 18-135 and a bag just big enough to hold the camera, an SD case and a couple of spare batteries. If I need more than 135mm of reach, I have a 32.5MP sensor and can "digitally zoom" in post. I have to remind myself that it's a vacation and I'm taking photos that are for my memories.

I know a lot of people who hardly ever take pictures of anything, anywhere and wonder how they can possibly pass up the beauty and the chance to save special memories. If nobody in the world ever sees my pictures, I still want them for me. I look back at them and though some of mine are poorly done, they make me smile. I'm thinking some people don't smile enough!

I'm with you. I've taken photos since I was a child and took two photography classes in college for my fine arts requirement. I set up my own dark room where I did a lot of B&W. I've gotten more serious about photography over the last 6 years when I started editing my photos. I used a P&S compact Canon, upgraded to a better one and was satisfied, but my good friend that I worked with at NASA shot with a Nikon DSLR when we went to the sports car races and his were just better, so I moved to a DSLR in 2017 (also spurred on by our upcoming Norway cruise), started editing in Lightroom and made it more of a hobby. I've got over 200,000 photos on my computer now, and we have several photo albums.

Thank you very much Raymond. Sometimes the elements come together and you have a camera to capture them.

Thank you very much Avi, I really appreciate it, especially coming from someone who has been there. I posted another set earlier today at https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-805858-1.html#14590514
