Another great set. Those monsters sure have seen better days. Will any of them be restored to their former glory?

Thank you for your comments Curmudgeon. Unfortunately lack of funds will preclude many of those vehicles from seeing restoration. Some of the worst ones are being used for parts to keep others going.

Neat set!
Is number 4 a mirror image???😄😄😄

Thank you for your comments Toment. I take it you are referring to the steering wheel being on the left side of the former US Army vehicle.

I like #4, the Studebaker 6x6. Most were sent to Russia making them a bit rare in the western countries.
It looks like a Diamond T prime mover in the background of a couple pictures.

Thank you for your comments Plieku69. The US Military shipped vehicles to Australia during WWII to assist with road construction and moving supplies through the centre of Australia. After hostilities ended many of the former military vehicles were sold off. Some were quickly put to good use by transport operators carting cattle and supplies to remote parts of the country. And yes you are correct there are several Diamond T's located at the museum including the one in my attached photo which was repowered with a GM (Detroit) 6/71 series diesel engine and used for many years by a well known local (Central Australia) transport operator.

Richard.

Thank you for your comments Alberio. Oshkosh are a rare breed in Australia but here is another one that does not belong to the museum but visited Alice Springs during a special event in 2015.

Thanks for sharing. I think they look great in B&W. Emphasizes the age and the fact that these old rigs have seen some hard use and now they are enjoying retirement.
