I plan to spend two weeks in Maine in late July. Are there any "Must See" photographic stops that you recommend? Either well-known or along the back roads.
Thank you!

I've been there a number of times and there are many places worth seeing if you hang along the coast. Notably for my experience -- Bath, Rockland, and Camden are worth a visit. The Portland Head Lighthouse is really nice.
From the first time I visited about 30 years ago to my last visit in 2022, Acadia has changed a lot. I recall pulling up to a closed gate (just a bar across the road) to drive up to the top of Mt. Desert Island. I wanted to be the first person in America for just one day to see the sunrise. I did that. Fast forward to today -- no longer a simple road leading to the top -- now it is almost a major road with a guard gate. You have to book your visit ahead of time with the hour you plan to visit. It seems there is a two-hour window like 11:00 to 1:00. If you don't make that time, you can't visit without rebooking.
One thing I wanted to see was Moose. They are not so prevalent along the coast and I have seen only one female. Someone told me if I wanted to see moose, it would be better to head inland toward Baxter State Park and Mt. Kathadin. My next visit I will try to head inland but so far in my six or seven trips there I've always stayed along the coast.

Whenever I visit a state I always call the experts, the folks who know the state best, the best place to go to ask specific questions on "must see" photographic stops that they, the experts, would recommend.
Why not try these experts out yourself.

Wouldn't "must see" depend on the individual's interests?
But getting a list might be helpful in deciding.
Recommendations:

Tenants Harbor/Port Clyde

As others have mentioned there are many coastal locations with serious damage from the past winter storms. So call ahead. In two weeks from Portland you can easily make it to Lubec and back with so many beautiful towns and Islands to visit. The Acadia crowds are a pain but get up early and deal with it, no point missing Acadia.
Take the ferry in Portland to visit the Casco Bay islands, Great Chebeague and its inn are my favorite by land.
Harpswell, Five Islands, around Boothbay both to the east and west, Port Clyde and the ferry to Monhegan Island, a boat trip to Eastern Egg Rock for Puffin viewing, Rockport, Rockland and Camden, take the ferry to North Haven/Vinyl Haven in the middle of Penobscot Bay, if you’re adventurous hire a ride in a charter trip out to Metinicus Island. Don’t miss Castine, Deer Island, the Mt. Desert (Acadia) and the Schoodic Peninsula. Beyond Schoodic is considered “Downeast”. Stop in Jonesport and hire a boat ride out to Roque Island. Carry on to Lubec and the Roosevelt compound on Campbello.
Don’t spend too much of your time in the tourist filled towns of Boothbay, Camden, Bar Harbor etc. Get out of the pack whenever and wherever, you won’t regret it.
Moosehead Lake if you want to see moose.

east. The "top" of Maine is a whole different world
IIRC, in the mid 20th century when many North American tribes were mired in looooong complex legal battles over their land rights,
the Wabanaki turned up in Augusta with their claim to Aroostook county. The officials pretty much said "A treaty is a treaty. You own it. Next case please." Done deal. No years long legal battle :-)
Perhaps Linda has a more accurate recollection of the event ?
That’s are so many places to see in Maine it is mind boggling. Ive been there three times over the last 25 years and still haven’t seen everything I want to see.
My favorites are Somes Sound which splits Mount Desert Island, Monhegan Island 12 miles or so off the mid coast region of Maine, and the Apprentice Shop in Rockland Maine.
Going to Monhegan takes some planning. We stayed 2 nights at the Inn which I recommend. You can do a day trip but it’s a long boat ride each way. You would leave on the first boat and return on the last boat. We go out of Marshall Point but there are other options. The Apprentice Shop is a boat building and repair shop that teaches people how to build wooden boats. You can tour the facility just call ahead of time to let them know.
