I spent a little time searching and found the TT685iiN to be about the most bang for the buck I was going to find and it seems compatible with my new (to me) Nikon Z7ii. It works with AA rechargeable batteries and has a pretty complete feature set. Apparently, Nikon is abandoning the speedlight market as even most of their own catalog has compatibility issues with Z mount cameras. There is a guy on YouTube who has gone to great lengths to create a spreadsheet that is very helpful in choosing a Godox flash that will meet your needs. His name is Wolf Amri and you can find him with a search... I'd post a link, but I think that gets you booted to a sub-basement somewhere in the bowels of the forum and I'd like stay in discussion to see if anybody has input concerning Godox. I ordered from B&H, so I'll have to wait till next week for shipment due to holidays. TIA

I have a flash.
Somebody made it.

Thanks for the reminder.
I have to go charge and flash to help keep the capacitor conditioned.
Been a while.

I have one or two Vivitar. I know one of them I can't use on a camera that doesn't support high voltage sync. I have too many flashes I don't know exactly what I have now.

Yea, I had an old flash that had a 150+V trigger voltage.
I ditched it and got the Vivitar.

Used to use my 810 with on board flash, liked it a lot. Still have it but got gas and bought a z8
so got a godox 560II for a childs birthday party, use it on manual 125/f8. flash has power button to increase output depending on distance, you learn distance vs power quickly. very power skimpy took 200 photos 4aa batteries still recycles quickly, bought rechargeable batteries havent used them yet under 60 for flash 25 for batteries
hope tis info is usable also instructions provided with flash very poor

I'd take a look at the new Lux Master Retro by Godox. And their new wireless commander...

I have the Godox Senior...and the Cadet...sent to me as promotional items...the senior is fantastic.

This new one looks awesome and is totally modern.

I have been sent the wireless commander to review...will be here any day...I expect it will also be a home run accessory.

Thanks for the feedback! In these days of sellers buying their ratings etc, it's kind of tough to come up with a "should I or shouldn't I", but most of what I've read about the brand has been positive except for a weak point of attachment and some incompatibilies with the Z7... all of which are supposedly corrected in the Mark II version of the flash. I guess I can't go too far wrong with a one or two year (not sure which) manufacturers warranty and a B&H one year warranty, all with a $129 price tag.

Yeah, I saw the Retro Senior on Northrup's YouTube channel and it certainly has the cool factor, but the non-removable proprietary battery didn't fit my needs. I guess you run out of juice you're done till you recharge?

All flashes run on batteries...either external or internal. All internal non removable are not what I would call proprietary...just an internal battery.

I doubt you could run the battery down in a single shoot...unless you don't know what you are doing (almost all mistakes are human error). I always travel with a power bank. You can charge it and shoot at the same time...cannot foresee someone getting into that kind of a bind.

To each his own, but that new Godox lacks for nothing...

So let's just say I'm one of those who don't know what they're doing and I run out of juice after using it for the 150 full power shots that Godox claims... I gotta wait two hours for a recharge (no matter the source of the recharge)? The one I bought allows me to continue, however poor my technique might be, by carrying a few AA's in my pocket (or using the optional power pack). Like you said, to each his own, but it's good to know you defend the brand.

Yes I agree with you there. Using permanent internal battery isn't a good idea. Even if the battery pack is proprietary it should be field swapable so that you can carry a spare or two. Just like camera batteries. Even camera battery I never run out of 1 battery in a day so I always have time to recharge but there are people who shoot more and possibly run out of flash battery during a shoot.

Just use a power bank...I have one that throws out 65watts...not an issue...for field work.
