Amazing story. Amazing woman. I have a bench that’s the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever put my tush on. Maybe your mom would come to Oregon and fix it? I’ll cook!

She does good work. I hope I can do as well at that age.

Bruce the 4th image showing your mom sitting on the bench looking at you is my favorite. Many of the others are also good for making a record of her surroundings. I'd rather have a less than perfect image compositionally of someone I cared for than an Anselly Adams el perfecto photograph of someone who has no emotional connection with me. And beans and jalapeno cornbread. Next time give us a picture of that. On second thought, better not. Dennis and I will be down there knocking on her door.

I can't agree more. The beans and jalapeño cornbread sound fantastic. Perhaps Bruce could send us each a very generous sample to feed a family of at least 4. I live by myself but would eat enough beans and jalapeño cornbread
for 4. Thanks for thinking of me.

I suspect Bruce is generally a generous fellow, but not when it comes to his mom's Beans and Jalapeno Cornbread. lol.

Don't be too hasty. You may be right but we'll never know until he asks us for our addresses OR gives his mom's address to us. I might drive down there from Eastern Idaho to sample some delicious food.

While I out looking for the remaining Bluebonnets to shoot, my mom called me and had some fresh made beans and jalapeno cornbread and some other stuff. Since she does all natural and organic, it is always very good. Slammed on the brakes, made a U-Turn on the hiway and headed over there. Since I had my Nikon D300s with the 28-80mm lens attached I took some images of her and some of her latest projects.
Now she is pushing 93, very active and busy and drives everywhere.
These two benches she saw rusting as junk somewhere and after a while she somehow got them to the house and refinished them. The one with the red slats were bought by me at Lowes, they are fence boards and she sanded them and painted. The white one she recently just finished. She drove the truck to Home Depot, which she does frequently, loaded up 2x4's and some 4x4's some another project. She worked them over and after refinishing the metal bench frames, she added the new wood. I had to catch this and share, she is kinda proud of it because friends have more seats outside when visiting.
Nikon D300s set at: P-Auto, auto ISO, Matrix metering, Dynamic AF mode.

I WAS NOT attempting to create a photographic setting excellence. I had a short time to grab'n go but wanted to capture the moment. So why not share with the HOG family huh ?

You have a lovely mom. She and I must have a lot in common. I tell people if they are going to give me a gift, make it a Lowe's gift card so I can buy more supplies, wood and tools.
Very nice photos too.

Nice. My mom just turned 97, and she is going strong.
Old people are good people.
