I don't do prayers, but good thoughts directed your way! Yeah, dogs are amazing critters. Ours knows when things aren't going well, and does her best to express sympathy! I wish I knew how they do that!

Thank you so much Chief. Appreciate your thoughts and well wishes.

Very sorry to hear about your Great Nephew Jim. Hope he makes a full recovery. Dogs seem to have that sense that let's them pick up on emotions quickly. You have a little cutie in Clary, nice shot.

Appreciate it and you Don! Thanks so much.

Our dog Clary senses something is up. 3 days ago our 14 year old Great Nephew had a very horrific accident. Sadly he is in grave condition on life support with multi-system trauma. There is a constant round the clock vigil at the Trauma Center by many family members. The Trauma Center is two hours away from us so the round trips through Los Angeles are rough.

Today we sat in the living room discussing plans and making phone calls. Our dog intuitively seems to understand the emotions at play.

This morning I took this photo because Clary just sat there staring at my wife as if to say "What's wrong Mom?" She rarely just sits and stares like this.

Thoughts and prayers for Isaak. Thank you.

Thank you so very much! We so very much appreciate your kindness.

Isaak had surgery today to take packing out of abdomen from damaged liver. He remains in a coma and in critical condition.

Folks your thoughts and prayers are working! Isaak made it through another night. His vitals remain stable. His organs are doing OK. The lab reports are encouraging.

He is in a medically induced coma and over the next few days if his brain swelling continues to subside and cerebral pressure stays low they will slowly take him off those meds to see how his brain function is.

They are going to do more work on his shattered leg while he is still unconcious. He had the packing removed from his abdomen for the lacerated liver. He is receiving antibiotics to ward off infection both in his abdomen and for pneumonia.

The big challenge ahead will be how much brain function he has as he was not breathing for 10 mins prior to paramedics arriving and intubating him.

There are many cases of people beating the odds and having good recovery from this type of injury. He has youth on his side. However, he is still critical and not out of the woods by a long shot.

Vigilance.

Praying for comfort for the whole family. Also praying for wisdom for the doctors to treat him and compassion for nurses and others on his medical team. And for God to say yes to everyone's prayers. A complete recovery with no lasting effects.

Thank you Jill. Everything has been done that can be done. He has received some of the best and most in depth care I have seen in my 44 years in healthcare. I will post an update shortly.

UPDATE

Sadly the news is not good and what we are praying for is the peaceful passing of Isaak as the damage is way to extensive to his brain.

The doctors are working with his Mother to basically ween him off the coma inducing drugs and let his body do what it will do. His brain has swelled so badly that one side of the brain is essentially dead. A portion of his skull was removed and even that has not stopped the swelling which is now pushing on the brain stem. Since he was apneic for >10 minutes prior to paramedics arriving and intubating, there was also extensive brain damage from anoxia. We do not know when the next update will occur as the process is complicated and obviously very emotional.

I will try and update as I hear any news but we are giving his Mom support but room to deal with this. She and Isaak have a large family surrounding them in support so that is one positive note.

Please let me THANK all of you "Hoggers" who have commented, sent thoughts and prayers our way. It has been felt and helpful. THANK YOU for your ONGOING support.

Jim
