Storms have ravaged our coast. Yesterday, the Coast Guard returned a HUGE buoy to its place in the ocean - it had been uprooted from it's mooring and washed ashore during in one of the recent storms. Earth Day/week brought out many groups to clean up miles of shore line.

Familiar areas, Pat. It's sad to see so much damage from those storms.

If we take care of the Earth, it enables us to fill our lives with beauty

These may have been posted somewhere before, but the lesson still stands โญโญโญ

The lesson is there, if we just look around at our surroundings. A gorgeous set, Joe; thanks for posting them for the rest of us to view.

Pat, thanks for giving us the impetus to think more about the beauty that is all around and our need to protect it. There are so many areas already being so protected. I have a few examples that may demonstrate.

Too bad you live so far away. I think we would get along admirably

Thanks so much for your always kind comments, Tony ๐Ÿค“โญโญ๐Ÿค“

Superb shots, and that GC shot blew me away - something we see so beautifully in color shots also looks exceptional without any color at all ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค

Thanks for the challenge, Pat. Good start as always. I've gotten something together for this one.

Awesome, and I even got the sniffles looking at that first shot of the combine race.

Was coming home one night in rural Indiana. Pitch black and not a light around. Saw two headlights coming at me, so I want going to pull to the right. Good thing I didn't. It was a combine coming right down the middle of the road. I would have gone into a drainage ditch!

My most faithful, exceptional subjects are turkey vultures around my place: photogenic, laid back, and very curious. I can stop and shoot to my heart's content, and they never get flighty ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ–ค

What a story that says a lot about how humans change an environment and how it impacts the animals! Driving my usual routes this past week I saw 4 fields stripped, development lot signs posted and more solar installations that had been hidden behind trees. Fields were stripped of the rich top soil and carted away (same with trees). I'm betting trees will later be bought from a nursery and the area re-plamted and owners will pay for dumploads of loam for their lawns!

Thanks for the comment. And, yes, it does seem that they destroy the land more than necessary. What you mentioned certainly has happened each time there has been construction around our place.

They definitely tell lots about life and habits.

Everybody freaked about stuff like that in the 70s. Now that whole area is full of lush greenery that took over the whole landscape there in that exact spot ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒž. Naturally. You'd never know there was a "landfill" there ๐Ÿค—

p.5 Joe! These are absolutely stunning- such vivid color and crisp edges.

From back in 2010 with two 5Mp cameras. I have never been able to duplicate that clarity no matter the equipment or the price ($500 each back then; one with an attached Zeiss lens and one with a Leica {Sony and Panasonic})

Mud, dirt and sand have long been attractions for humans - especially little humans. It's fun to watch them enjoy the oozy mud, splash - and then hose them down! Adults have their own grown up mud fun. Up here they are called Mud Runs. (I don't have any pix of a mud run)

My favorite place to play as a child was any mound of dirt or the dirt that was under our back porch. Today you would look at me and think, "It figures" ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“

Thanks for hosting, Pat. As usual, I've enjoyed everyone's posts. Has been a nice variety of thoughtful and inspirational photos.
It's a cool day today and I'm taking a little rest from trying to get the needed yard work done (needed a diversion).
Our neighborhood has changed a great deal in the last 10 years or so. We used to be protected and could only see a couple older houses out our front window and across the street. Now...โ˜นโ˜น We still have lots of trees separating our backyard from out neighbors and can't see their house.

Since these changes have occurred over the years, our mini environment has really changed. Our plants and flowers need different care. Most of all, we notice the heat and WIND!! Before the last home construction, I could spend time out on an nice, sunny, April day (mid 50's) in a short sleeved t-shirt. No way now! And, I often have trouble taking pictures of flowers/plants in the yard because of the wind.

Deer are so beautiful and adaptable. I used to meet my buddy every day at the forest nearby. Whenever he used to drive up, all the deer used to go up to his car since he forever had food for them. Other cars? No way!
