Storms have ravaged our coast. Yesterday, the Coast Guard returned a HUGE buoy to its place in the ocean - it had been uprooted from it's mooring and washed ashore during in one of the recent storms. Earth Day/week brought out many groups to clean up miles of shore line.

April 22nd is designated "Earth Day" but many communities have celebrations and activities scheduled throughout the week. This challenge includes human impact on the earth, any activities your community might have (clean ups etc), climate consciousness, and efforts to be kind to our climate. Include weather impact if you can. Can't think of anything? Show us the terrain in your neighborhood - rocks, dirt and mud are totally acceptable in this challenge.

Anyone is welcome to participate - use "reply" to write your reply and attach your image. Want to comment? Please use "Quote Reply" under the post tht caught your eye.

So, what does Earth Week look like where you are?

Thanks for hosting, Pat. As usual, I've enjoyed everyone's posts. Has been a nice variety of thoughtful and inspirational photos.
It's a cool day today and I'm taking a little rest from trying to get the needed yard work done (needed a diversion).
Our neighborhood has changed a great deal in the last 10 years or so. We used to be protected and could only see a couple older houses out our front window and across the street. Now...☹☹ We still have lots of trees separating our backyard from out neighbors and can't see their house.

Since these changes have occurred over the years, our mini environment has really changed. Our plants and flowers need different care. Most of all, we notice the heat and WIND!! Before the last home construction, I could spend time out on an nice, sunny, April day (mid 50's) in a short sleeved t-shirt. No way now! And, I often have trouble taking pictures of flowers/plants in the yard because of the wind.

The gal who sold the property tried her best to save as many trees as possible but it was really a fight. Interestingly enough, there were trees taken down that weren't even on the actual property sold.

P3. They are beautiful. Ours seem pretty tenacious for seeming so fragile. 😊 💗

We have them in the suburbs by us, and they seem to be smarter than many of the people who live nearby. They sit down and wait for traffic to clear. Before crossing, they check in both directions, then safely trot across.

Yes, Coyotes have adopted very well to urban environments. There was a program on PBS a while ago about how Coyotes have adopted to several large North American cities. I think they highlighted New York, and somewhere else as well as Toronto. Note that the Coyotes that they've been seeing in Canadian cities, many of them are larger and more aggressive, having, they believe, bred with Wolves.
