This isn't quite the same but I recall seeing in Nevada these Stuckeys shacks in the
middle of nowhere advertising pecan log rolls. I always wondered how far their employees
had to travel to get there.

Lots of Stuckeys back in the 60s on the route from NYC to Florida.
I remember stopping in South Carolina for some “Fo Yo Pancakes.”

I'm sure that Burma Shave actually saved some lives. People laughed and then were more careful! It was a REAL "service" to America, even though it was an advertisement and it was one of the RARE "really useful" ones!

A man, a miss,
A car a curve.
He kissed the miss,
And missed the curve. Burma Shave

DON'T STICK YOUR ELBOW
OUT SO FAR
IT MAY GO HOME
IN ANOTHER CAR. Burma Shave

An extensive list of Burma Shave slogans can be found at the following website, by year.

Around the corner,
Lickety-split,
Beautiful car,
Wasn't it - Burma Shave

An excellently informative and amusing book, "The Verse by the Side of the Road" by Frank Rowsome Jr. is available from Amazon. It tells the story of the sign crew. And it lists all of the jingles.

I remember those I always wondered who came up with those catchy phrases to all those years.

Sorry - My previous post is not a Burma Shave example. It comes from a different collection of road signs.

I remember those signs quite well, and the Burma-Vita Company that brought us those highway rhymes was located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I used to love those signs. I still drive the 2-laners and occasionally I'll see one - or at least part of one.

If my memory isn't playing games with me, I think there are some of these signs on the old Route 66 between Selligman AZ and Kingman.

No clue. Either I am too young (<70) or they never had those road signs in California. I remember the Copper Tone, and Enjoy Coca-cola signs.

A couple of months ago "Our Iowa" magazine had an article on Burma Shave signs. Then they put one sign in all 99 Iowa counties. The last sign had to say "Our Iowa"
