Saturday was such a beautiful day in Arizona, that I asked Pat if she wanted to take a drive. We would search for any Wildflowers that might still be hanging around on our scenic drive to Fountain Hills. She eagerly consented.
The Wildflower part of the trip was as I had expected, with the remaining Poppy's and Lupine fields being now overtaken by those nasty Stinknet weeds.
The trip itself was good as most of the traffic was isolated to the lake and river. Wow! everybody and their kids were out enjoying the floating on the Salt River. Looks like a great way to keep cooled off during this upcoming summer's heat.
We got into Fountain Hills and found the pond park as the fountain was just ending a cycle, so we spent the next sixty minutes waiting for the next explosion of spouting water. Pat found a comfortable park bench in the shade with a nice view of the fountain. I searched around until I found a good spot for photographing the action.
On time and as predicted, the fountain began another fifteen minute cycle of blasting the water as high as 560 feet into the Arizona Blue sky. I got my photos then found Pat as we watched the water until it shut off.
It was near lunch time so we stopped in at a Sports Bar with a view of the Fountain Pond, ordered food and drink and waited for the next showing by the fountain. What a "Blast" it was, we enjoyed our day and hope you enjoy the photos from our day in Fountain Hills.

This looked like a good spot to shoot the fountain, but it would disappear into the tree in the foreground.

The pump turned on and this is just the starting plume rising into the blue sky.

This was a first stage pause before the pumps got serious about this fountain display.

This is the full height, something around 560 feet up. That's Red Mountain in the background.

I changed my viewing angle to catch the wind causing the spray to drift.

What a view, having our lunch and watching the fountain reach its maximum height once again.

Sorry about the banding in the sky, I tend to keep my file sizes small because they were posted on Face Book.

Nicely done. Seems like ya'll had a great time.
A beautiful place to spend time.
Pretty place and shots but an absolute waste of water. In case people don't know we are in a 25 year drought. Lake Mead and Powell are at record lows and Fountain Hills is wasting water in a fountain, a lake and watering lawns. It is impossible to overstate the stupidity of the human animal.
Nice set of photos, Jack!
I would bet this pond is recycled water. That is a strong water pump.

I thought the same thing until I Googled the fountain. Still, I pretty much agree with what you're saying, but the fountain's always using the same water, which, by the way, is recycled water.
Cool you're jets and smell the roses.

You're right alberio, there are signs to let people know that it's not a total waste of resources.
