I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 multipurpose watch from Amazon. Like many other devices, it needs a cell phone app in order to work. I was able to install the app on both of my phones, but after scanning for it, neither phone could find the watch. I tried this over a period of several hours, trying tips suggested online. What's odd is that the cell phone knew it was paired with the watch, but scanning didn't work, so I couldn't set up the watch.

I see this trend as a major problem for electronics. I have a new (old) cell phone arriving next week, and I am hoping it will be able to connect with two small cameras. If not, the phone goes back. I watched several demos of the watch on YouTube, and no one mentioned a problem pairing watch and phone. According to what I read online, not only is pairing a problem, but losing the pairing causes the watch to lose current information, and you have to try to pair it again.

I got my wife a Fitbit Charge something-or-other. She loves it, but sometimes it does not sync with the phone either.

I had three FitBits, but they didn't last long. That's why I had three. And they were cheap. I've given up on smart watches and fitness trackers. Knowing what time it is is enough for me.

I thought this was funny. Before I bought the cell phone that's arriving next week, I watched lots of reviews. Not one of them even mentioned the phone capabilities. Reviews used to say something about the sounds from the mic and the speaker. Now, the camera and the apps are all that matter.
