I first posted a portion of this image that was used to highlight an illusion that existed in that initial post. A member ( boris77 ) asked if I had a shot that showed the entire building. This is the image from which I extracted the picture in the initial post.
The entire home was built at the same time. Both ends of the home and the entire back of the home are all finished with the combination of diagonal and horizontal siding as shown in the image of the front. The paved road was not there when the home was built. When the man who built the home died ( I was told that he was quite an eccentric person ), his heirs sold enough of the property to the State so the road could be built. Obviously, that land sale did not include the homesite. I wouldn't know any of this history were it not for a kindly older lady who worked at a true old-time country store.
Clearly, a breath-o-lizer test for the contractor was in order. 😂

Hey, Howard.
That could be the case. But I doubt there was anyone willing to tangle with an old mountain man who's in a duel with the devil over his home brew.
Very nice capture. Makes my eyes search. LOL

Thanks for visiting and commenting. This home was a one-time construction project. I was told by some local folks that the paved road was not there when the home was built. I'm going to post a shot of the entire home as another member has stated an interest in seeing it.

Thanks for the update Tom and I look forward to seeing the complete photo. I photographed an old home several years ago and wanted to do a completer shoot on it but as I arrived I saw an empty lot so I was a little late for that one. At one time it must have been a beautiful old place with a very long wrap around front porch. It was in the town area with other newer homes all around so I guess the neighbors may have wanted it down. It would have been very expensive to restore it to it's original condition.
Thanks, David
David

Thank you. It is great to see the whole building, although disturbing that a road is built that close to a house!
I guess no one plans to inhabit the house. As good as your post picture was, there should more to photograph there.
Boris
Your photo certainly catches the eye Tom. Looks like something from Grand Designs. A caption could read "What were they thinking?". As Frank (Mangles) suggested I have also read that placing the slats diagonally may add strength to the structure.

I have one more shot of the place I'm going to post. It also evidences an illusion.
Thanks for looking in, Howard.
Interesting, and good capture

Thanks. It is an interesting building. I've never seen anything quite like it.
