The images are great. The real question is "do you like them"?

Wonderful results, Barb. Check out Paul's (chg_canon) about colorspace adjustments to your posts.

Well, I "purchased" a refurbished lens from Amazon to expand beyond my squirrel stuff.

Canon 18 -135 f/3.5- 5.6, Image Stabilization, USM. I realize it's not the best; however, this is within the budget at this stage. I have 30 days to try it, as it's a free return.

So I took it out for a spin to the nearby place where I did the signs. It's a nice place with beautiful trees, which I like photographing. While it was great to have a lens I could use to get these shots, I missed my other lens when I saw a bird and, yes, a squirrel! I confess when I played enough, I did switch back to my other, and yes, I got several pleasing squirrel shots.

I included the Robin, which was taken with the new lens because I liked that he had something in his mouth. Nice surprise when I discovered it when I edited it.

So here's what I did. I don't have much experience with this type of photography, so I gave it a try! Please feel free to comment.
Well, I "purchased" a refurbished lens f... (show quote)

I suspect the original Robin was quite nice; however, I thing something happened in postprocessing to smear the color/texture, i.e.: no detail in its breast.

Nice pics - but viewing your pic #8 download filename indicates that it's PPd with denoise, sharpen and exposure adjustments, which negate an assessment of your new lens?

True, sorry, maybe I should have said that. However, if I didn't have a good original, would processing even help? Love that the Hog members are always thorough!

When we look at the fine details of the red flower and the bricks in the building, both shot at f/5.6, it seems pretty clear this lens and camera capture work excellent together. I did not your files are not calibrated for colorspace, as in not presented as sRGB. Assuming 18-135 is the useful range needed, hopefully your satisfied with this purchase.

Thanks for the feedback. Will look into that!

Thanks. I agree. I should maybe try playing more with it, as I like the image. I'm still new to editing!

I use this lens all the time. Maybe not the best, but I like it and you did a very nice job with it. Mine is attached to a Canon7D.

Thanks, good to hear and thanks for your feedback!
