Fascinating subject/photograph. Is there a larger area that could be photographed and maintain the fascinating construction patterns of the building, even if not on the same plane, and not forming a standard photo shape.
Your original is very successful, but I would like to see more!

Fantastic image!! Tom
I have seen that type of construction in a lot of older frame buildings, when I ask why they put the boards on the diagonal I was told it held the frame with the first board being installed from the upper corner to the lower corner , that made sense to me, but when I was told it was also stronger I doubted that.
They also played a 3/4" subfloor on the diagonal then the floor another layer of 3/4" boards laid square with the floor joist, (was suppose to reduce squeaking).

Great find, Tom, and being a carpenter's son, it's easy to believe flatness.

Lines and detail.

Spending too much time at Universal??? Seriously, Tom, great shots of very, very interesting lines and construction, I really like it though it gave me a little vertigo...

I'm sure glad you stopped by, Frank. I was thinking that you might have some educational input about construction features like this. I've always wondered what the benefit was to diagonal planking.
