What an interesting effect, Tom.

It truly is, Mike. When I first saw this, I thought " what the hell am I seeing here".

Where the horizontal boards meet that angled boards does make it appear to be a corner rather than a flat plane. Very cool. I wonder what it looked like when it was new and finished. It’s a photo that seems to generate its own caption.

I was about to respond to your first comment, Greg. The weathered appearance to some of the siding may contribute to creating the illusion, but I'm not sure about that. But I suspect that the illusion was present even when it was new.

I'm assuming that the choice of materials and its application was intentional....as opposed to just throwing something together using what they had to work with. Either way, the illusion was created.

Not the frames, Jack. They extended out from the surrounding panels about an inch and a half.

OK now I understand. Your post said everything except the door and I was wondering if I had really lost it

Same plane, but not very square.

Hi, Jared;

When you're treading in the world of illusions, you can't have it all.

I'm a little surprised we didn't cross trail back then. We had the same friends.

Thanks for looking in.
