While I was at Farmington Bay WMA, a group of American White pelicans in the back area below the GBH condos caught my eye and I took their photo. I then saw one of them lift off and fly directly at me. I hit the "hot" setting on my A9 and the Sony 100-400mm lens with 1.4 tc did the rest. Out of the almost 40 photos, I indulged myself with posting the various angles and wing positions, unlike the usual "butt bird" shots I produce.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, Ellen, I go to bird refuges with a landscape rig (usually the 24-70mm), a serious long lens (usually the 600mm with the 2x tc) and the quick reach (in this case my A9 with the 100-400mm and a 1.4tc). So long as I can access the right set up, things work. In this case I had the right gear in my hands when the pelican took off.
