Eight or ten years previous (to the time I'd shot the slide), I'd done a pen & ink drawing of what effectively is this same exact scene.

Really enjoyed your painting. Very simplistic with a message most of us can relate to.
The washed out color palette of nearly complementary colors works well for me, and I think for the image. The subject is compelling. I like that you’ve left space on the left side and top for meditation.
And the mystery of just enough person in the frame to make one wonder what he/she is thinking about. Is this a lazy day near the beach to get away from frantic life? A quiet moment in retirement lost in thought? Intriguing.

If I knew how to do the refined, critique thing, not just the rustic and rust -ick!, creak thing.......why, I'm sure I'd wax eloquent about how dreamy and soothing and calming and quieting and settling and pensive and.....
