The French auto company, Ballot, wanted to boost its recognition world wide as a serious performance car manufacturer. They developed a car specifically to race in the 1919 Indy 500. It had a sleek design and advanced suspension and braking systems. The engine was an in-line 8 cylinder of 4816 cc. It had double overhead cams and 4 valves per cylinder. It put out 140 HP. Top speed was right at 105 MPH. It was running very well in the race, leading at times. Something went awry with the rear wheels ( I'm not sure what ) and it was retired from the race.

Ho-hum, just another great shot of a significant auto. Well, done, Tom.

And on top of that, Mike, I don't see a single safety feature.

Thanks, Jack.

I find that car to be very appealing. Maybe it's that beautiful blue.

I can just imagine the ride-along mechanic furiously pumping to pressurize that huge fuel tank while the driver was clipping along at 100mph+! Roll cage??? what's that?

Now that's a good question. I don't know. I'll dig into my info resources and find out.
