If KEH is selling a used Nikon Z7ii for $1934, you can be rather confident anyone selling that camera for less than $500 is not for real.

I've heard Abe's of Maine has great prices.

No . . . but I just received a email from a "so called" Pay Pal saying I owe them $661.99. Sure sounds like a scam as I have never ever had any kind of dealings with them. Has anyone heard of this one.

Tried that on me yesterday for a bitcoin purchase! It is a scam!!!! Be sure to check your PayPal account to be sure this isn't a valid transaction.

Anyone ever deal with a company called Mercari?

It's supposed to be a consumer-to-consumer site. They claim that their policy is that they don't process your payment until three days after you receive a product, and that you can return it within the three-day period.

I've seen a few websites say they are legit.

Sounds Great.

They have a BBB rating of A

Sounds Great.

Their customer rating on the BBB site is 1.06 stars out of five (over 1000 reviews). WHAT? Given that some people misclick, I wouldn't have thought that was possible.

I see a listing for a Nikon Z 7 ii today for Under $400 -- with the 24-70 claiming that it has about 300 clicks. What????

My first, second and third reactions are this has got to be a scam. But if I'm not charged until I receive the item, I'm not sure I'm seeing what it is.

Anyway -- comfortable in the belief that if it looks too good to be true, it almost certainly is. I'm not going to bite.

But does anyone know what the play on the part of the seller is here.

A scam? You “have never ever had any kind of dealings with them” and suddenly you get a bill allegedly from them and you “think” it might be a scam?
Run away run away run away!!!
Don’t, repeat, don’t click on the link. Don’t even open the email. Put it directly into the trash.

Don't deal with mercari and no ratings on the seller.
There are a lot of scammers on there now. Also mercari will not do anything about it.

I had a similar experience about two months ago. I understood right a way it was a scam. They were offering brand new overproduced Nikon Z8 with a 35mm lens and a Nikon D500 with a zoom lens for a total of $ 67.00. I never reply to any scam messages but this time, as a photographer, I was curious and wanted to try to order. First I contacted my CC provider to know if I could get money back in case of a scam or no shipment. They confirmed and assured that I will get refunded. I placed the order but when I did not received anything I opened a dispute to get my money back. When I got my money back I found out that the name of the company was different in respect to the one I placed the order originally. The company was based in Hong Kong. For sure even the company that received my order first, even if not mentioned, was based in China. An additional experience not to trust Chinese companies.

I've purchased from them many times, granted never anything that is that expensive. I have never had a problem.

Ken, I have never used the web services of Mercari

But I do "Trust" the reviews on "TrustPilot.com" -- and they don't look good
....... Overall 'average rating' of 1.7 stars out of a total of 5 stars.. with over 19,200 reviews

.......... I think I would pass.. Personal Opinion

See the below screenshot and/or go to the Trust Pilot website and check...

Seems like it would be greater than 1.7 when the rating is 57%
