They were declared extinct in the wild in the eighties when those remaining in the wild were captured and moved to protected areas in an attempt to save them. There were about 25 of them left alive at that time and today they've rebouned to well over 500 birds both in captivity and either returned to or born in the wild. So, I would imagine that there are very few alive today that don't have number or letter markings of one sort or another.
