People don’t need calculators to know what they are paying and people know food, energy, housing, transportation, insurance are all much higher. Additionally, national calculator doesn’t provide real world numbers regionally. For instance average electricity in California is $.32 per Kw/h almost double the national average. Gas and Diesel are north of $5.00 and try and find home insurance in many regions.

Serious question and I am sorry for anyone who died but I didn’t see many die who didn’t have serious preexisting conditions. I don’t think anyone healthy needed to walk around in fear of death. There were certainly outliers as always but not in numbers to instill a fear of death and now history, at least to me, shows an over reaction by both administrations (which obviously since the virus was novel is somewhat understandable). What you label as blissful ignorance I call it minimal disruption to the finite years I have left and that was my experience, minimal disruption.
